Purpose: This study retrospectively analyzed preoperative arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion MRI data of patients with the temporal-insula type of temporal plus epilepsy (TI-TPE). We aimed to investigate the differences in presurgical cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes in TI-TPE patients with different surgical outcomes.
Method: A total of 48 TI-TPE patients confirmed by SEEG were meticulously reviewed for this study.

Hence, this study used Mendelian randomization (MR) to robustly assess whether five primary sleep characteristics are directly linked with the risk of CRC occurrence.
Methods: In the performed study, the main Mendelian randomization analysis was conducted using approaches such as Inverse Variance Weighting (IVW), MR Egger, and weighted median method.
Nitrogen dioxide (NO) is a gaseous air pollutant linked to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and environmental problems such as acid rain and tropospheric ozone formation. Reference instruments for measuring NO are expensive, highlighting the need to develop low cost sensor technologies for wider scale monitoring of this critical pollutant. Here, we report the development of a scalable sensor using electrochemically exfoliated 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS) networks.

Methods And Materials: In the study, 591 patients with distal or middle-third, clinical primary tumor stage cT3 to 4 and/or regional lymph node-positive rectal cancer were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive short-term radiation therapy (25 Gy in 5 fractions) followed by 4 cycles of CAPOX (TNT group, n = 297) or standard CRT (50 Gy in 25 fractions concurrently with oral capecitabine) (CRT group, n = 294) before surgery. After a 6-year follow-up, the surviving patients were sent surveys, including the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ)-C30, EORTC QLQ-CR29, and Wexner incontinence score questionnaires.
Tactile sensation and recognition in the human brain are indispensable for interaction between the human body and the surrounding environment. It is quite significant for intelligent robots to simulate human perception and decision-making functions in a more human-like way to perform complex tasks. A combination of tactile piezoelectric sensors with neuromorphic transistors provides an alternative way to achieve perception and cognition functions for intelligent robots in human-machine interaction scenarios.

Although nitric oxide (NO)-enhanced photodynamic (PDT) therapy has been involved in biofilm eradication, the anti-biofilm efficacy is usually hindered by the short half-life and limited diffusion distance of active molecules. Herein, we report a three-arm structure using the photosensitive core chlorin e6 to integrate three α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) polyrotaxane chains as the supramolecular nanocarrier of NO-enhanced PDT therapy, in which NO was loaded on the cationic rings (α-CDs).

Thin-film transistors are one type of key components in modern electronics and have been further developed as electrostatic-induction-type proximity sensors to perceive the approach of electrically charged objects. However, they are immune to the approach of a zero-potential object.

Nucleosome reconstitution on DNA for these studies typically involves a salt dialysis procedure that provides precise control over the placement and number of nucleosomes formed along a DNA tether. However, this protocol is time-consuming and requires a substantial amount of DNA and histone octamers as inputs.

The canonical view of MeCP2 as a DNA methylation-dependent transcriptional repressor has proven insufficient to describe its dynamic interaction with chromatin and multifaceted roles in genome organization and gene expression. Here we used single-molecule correlative force and fluorescence microscopy to directly visualize the dynamics of wild-type and RTT-causing mutant MeCP2 on DNA.

Recent work in a rat model suggests that cortical arousal state changes prior to seizures and that single neurons show diverse firing patterns during seizures. Our aim was to extend these investigations to a mouse model with studies of neuronal activity and arousal state to facilitate future fundamental investigations of absence epilepsy.

To carry out the diagnosis and evaluation of the ecosystem health in Yuxi three-lake watershed, this paper presents the changing trend of its health state, and predicts the future development. This also provides ideas for maintaining the regional ecosystem health, and then gradually improves the ecological environment quality. Taking Fuxian Lake, Qilu Lake and Xingyun Lake (the three-lake watershed) in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, Southwest China as the research object, a model combining pressure-state-response and kernel density estimation (PSR-KDE) adopts to diagnose and evaluate the ecosystem health of the "three lake" watershed from 2010 to 2020, and the distribution map of ecosystem health index has obtained by the evaluation indexes integration based on GIS spatial analysis.

As a fundamental low-level vision task, a single model with fewer parameters to achieve cross-dataset boundary detection merits further investigation. In this study, a lightweight universal boundary detection method was developed based on convolution and a transformer.

Two-dimensional (2D) semiconducting flakes have yet to be investigated in fiber transistors but can offer a route toward high-mobility, biocompatible, and flexible fiber-based devices. Here, the electrochemical exfoliation of semiconducting 2D flakes of tungsten diselenide (WSe) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS) is shown to achieve homogeneous coatings onto the surface of polyester fibers.

Mtb encounters diverse environments during its life cycle and responds to these changes largely by reprogramming its transcriptional output. However, the mechanisms of Mtb transcription and how they are regulated remain poorly understood.
