The limitations of individual imaging modalities have led to significant interest in hybrid imaging methods that combine the advantages of multiple techniques. The development of diverse dual imaging agents, which offer the exceptional sensitivity of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and the high spatial resolution of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has been addressing the demand for more advanced diagnostic pharmaceuticals. In this study, Tc-labeled manganese oxide-loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs), conjugated with folic acid as the targeting moiety and the chelating agent Hpentapa-en-NH (Tc-MnO-MSN-FA-pa), were developed for targeted SPECT-MRI dual imaging.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAβ plaque formation is one of the preliminary pathologic events that occur post traumatic brain injury (TBI) which is also among the most noteworthy hallmarks of AD. Their pre symptomatic detection is therefore vital for better disease management. Chalcone-picolinic acid chelator derivative, 6-({[(6-carboxypyridin-2-yl)methyl](2-{4-[(2E)-3-[4-(dimethyl amino)phenyl]prop-2-enoyl]phenoxy}ethyl)amino}methyl)pyridine-2-carboxylic acid, Py-chal was synthesized to selectively identify amyloid plaques formed post head trauma using SPECT imaging by stable complexation to Tc with > 97% efficiency without compromising amyloid specificity.

Cryogels have emerged as promising materials for the rapid release of medication and achieving hemostasis. However, their quick release properties pose the challenge of exposing patients to high concentrations of drugs.

Chalcones (α-phenyl-β-benzoylethylene) and their natural-source derivatives have been investigated for their remarkable biological activities, like neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. A triazole chalcone ligand (E)-3-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)-1-(4-((1-(2-(4-((E)-3-(4(dimethylamino)phenyl)acryloyl)phenoxy)ethyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methoxy)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (L1) was synthesized by Cu(I)- catalysed click reaction. The mechanistic properties of L1 for therapy were evaluated by analyzing the binding interactions between L1 and bovine serum albumin (BSA) through photophysical and computational studies.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is preferred over other nuclear imaging techniques owing to its radiation-free approach. Conventionally, most MRI contrast agents employed predominantly involve lanthanide metal: Gadolinium (Gd) until the discovery of associated severe nephrogenic toxicity issues.
