Do Rib-Based Anchors Impair Chest Wall Motion in Early Onset Scoliosis (EOS)?

Purpose: There is a concern in pediatric surgery practice that rib-based fixation may limit chest wall motion in early onset scoliosis (EOS). The purpose of this study is to address the above concern by assessing the contribution of chest wall excursion to respiration before and after surgery.

Methods: Quantitative dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (QdMRI) is performed on EOS patients (before and after surgery) and normal children in this retrospective study.

Spectrum of Imaging Findings and Complications After Hepatic Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Tumors.

This study reviews the spectrum of imaging findings and complications after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the treatment of primary liver tumors (hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma) and liver metastases. The review encompasses a spectrum of imaging criteria for assessing treatment response, including the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors guidelines, tumor enhancement, and apparent diffusion coefficient alterations.We discuss the expected posttreatment changes and imaging responses to TACE, describing favorable and poor responses.

Target-shaped combined halo and reversed-halo sign, an atypical chest CT finding in COVID-19.

Typical chest CT findings in COVID-19 have been described as bilateral peripheral ground glass opacities, with or without consolidation. Halo sign and reversed halo sign have been reported as atypical imaging findings in this disease. However, to the best of our knowledge, combined presence of these signs has never been reported before.

Clinical, Immunological, and Genetic Features in 49 Patients With ZAP-70 Deficiency: A Systematic Review.

Zeta-Chain Associated Protein Kinase 70 kDa (ZAP-70) deficiency is a rare combined immunodeficiency (CID) caused by recessive homozygous/compound heterozygous loss-of-function mutations in the gene. Patients with ZAP-70 deficiency present with a variety of clinical manifestations, particularly recurrent respiratory infections and cutaneous involvements. Therefore, a systematic review of ZAP-70 deficiency is helpful to achieve a comprehensive view of this disease.

Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus Infection among Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency and Effect of Patient Screening on Disease Outcomes, Iran.

Patients with immunodeficiency-associated vaccine-derived poliovirus (iVDPV) are potential poliovirus reservoirs in the posteradication era that might reintroduce polioviruses into the community. We update the iVDPV registry in Iran by reporting 9 new patients. In addition to national acute flaccid paralysis surveillance, cases were identified by screening nonparalyzed primary immunodeficiency (PID) patients.

Managing patients with side effects and adverse events to immunoglobulin therapy.

Immunoglobulin therapy has not only served as a lifesaving approach for the prevention and treatment of infections in primary and secondary immunodeficiency diseases, but has also been used as an immunomodulatory agent for autoimmune and inflammatory disorders and to provide passive immunity for some infectious diseases. Most of the adverse effects associated with immunoglobulin therapy are mild, transient and self-limiting. However, serious side effects also occur.
