Background: Relatives of patients withaddictive disorders often face significant difficulties in their daily lives. Although the burnout concept is currently considered a significant and promising theoretical framework for studying family members who care for chronically ill patients, its application has encountered considerable difficulties in the area of addiction treatment.

Objective: This article explores the methodology for studying the psychological issues arising in families affected by addictive disorders.

Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is one of the dangerous forms of vascular calcification. CAVD leads to calcification of the aortic valve and disturbance of blood flow. Despite high mortality, there is no targeted therapy against CAVD or vascular calcification.

Fulminant myocarditis (FM) is a severe form of inflammatory myocardial injury rapidly developing as acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, or life-threatening disturbances of cardiac rhythm. FM requires intensive treatment including drug therapy, mechanical circulatory support, and in some cases - heart transplantation. Echocardiography can be used as a screening method of diagnostics.

People with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) experience reading comprehension difficulties, often misinterpreting complex texts, metaphors, and idioms. We have developed and tested a new assistive technology tool for adaptive, personalized text simplification, called Open Book. This tool is an open-sourced, online platform that uses Natural Language Processing with the specific aim of assisting reading and aiding understanding of written text for people with ASD.

The study aimed to compare composition of peripheral blood T-cell subsets and assess their surface expression of CD39 and CD73 ectonucleotidases in patients with severe and moderate aortic stenosis (AS) as well as to evaluate involvement of T-cell-mediated immune processes in valve calcification. The study was performed with 38 patients suffering from severe calcified aortic stenosis (SAS), 33 patients with MAS, and 30 apparently healthy volunteers (HVs). The relative distribution and percentage of T-cell subsets expressing CD39 and CD73 were evaluated by flow cytometry.

Comparative in vitro study examined the osteogenic potential of interstitial cells of aortic valve obtained from the patients with aortic stenosis and from control recipients of orthotopic heart transplantation with intact aortic valve. The osteogenic inductors augmented mineralization of aortic valve interstitial cells (AVIC) in patients with aortic stenosis in comparison with the control level. Native AVIC culture of aortic stenosis patients demonstrated overexpression of osteopontin gene (OPN) and underexpression of osteoprotegerin gene (OPG) in comparison with control levels.

Aims: Calcific aortic valve disease is the most common heart valve disease in the Western world. Bicuspid and tricuspid aortic valve calcifications are traditionally considered together although the dynamics of the disease progression is different between the two groups of patients. Notch signaling is critical for bicuspid valve development and NOTCH1 mutations are associated with bicuspid valve and calcification.

We studied the effects of physical factors (acoustic impulses of laser-induced hydrodynamics, AILIH, and EHF-radiation) on the formation of heterotopic bone marrow organs. Suspension of precipitated mouse bone marrow cells was exposed to AILIH and EHF or their combinations (AILIH+EHF, EHF+AILIH). The developed tissue engineering constructions (gelatin sponges containing 107 nucleated bone marrow cells exposed to physical factors) were transplanted under the renal capsule of syngeneic mice.

Introduction: Numerous studies have been documenting during the last decades the difficulties of reading comprehension shown by people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including those with preserved intelligence. These difficulties can condition their educational path and directly impact on social inclusion, autonomy and access to employment.

Development: This article presents the work developed by a multidisciplinary team under the framework of a project funded by the European Union.

The presented findings of research on the sanitary and hygienic status of the BAM-regional cities and towns and assessment of their (and their analogues) developmental perspectives have revealed the interregional difference in climate and nature dictating a differential approach to planning urbanisation of this region's specific areas. Based on the analysis of urban planning and construction and on special observations, measures aimed at environmental protection and population morbidity control have been elaborated and implemented.
