RAHI-SATHI Indo-U.S. Collaboration: The Evolution of a Trainee-Led Twinning Model in Global Health Into a Multidisciplinary Collaborative Program.

Background: In recent years there has been a surge in the number of global health programs operated by academic institutions. However, most of the existing programs describe partnerships that are primarily faculty-driven and supported by extramural funding.

Program Description: Research and Advocacy for Health in India (RAHI, or "pathfinder" in Hindi) and Support and Action Towards Health-Equity in India (SATHI, or "partnership" in Hindi) are 2 interconnected, collaborative efforts between the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) and Charutar Arogya Mandal (CAM), a medical college and a tertiary care center in rural western India.

Missed Opportunities for Nutritional Rehabilitation in Children Admitted to Surgical Wards.

Background. Malnutrition in children has serious health and economic consequences. We studied documentation of malnutrition, actual prevalence, and treatment given in children admitted to surgical wards.

Transvaginal small bowel evisceration in known case of uterine prolapse due to trauma.

Spontaneous transvaginal bowel evisceration is a rare surgical emergency with only a few cases reported and particularly postmenopausal, posthysterectomy, multiparous elderly women are considered to be at higher risk for development of bowel evisceration. It is difficult to manage such a patient for any surgeon and poses significant challenges especially intraoperatively. Here, we report a case of vaginal vault rupture with small bowel evisceration through the vagina in a known case of uterine prolapse and highlight the risk factors, clinical presentation, and treatment options for this rare surgical emergency.
