Methods: Participants on stable NSAID therapy and with a history of inadequate response to other standard OA analgesics were enrolled in an 80-week (56-week treatment/24-week safety follow-up), randomized, NSAID-controlled, phase 3 study primarily designed to assess the safety of tanezumab for moderate-to-severe OA of the knee or hip.

Purpose: The study aimed to evaluate cytokines in tears as potential biomarkers in non-infectious uveitis.
Methods: Tear samples were obtained using Schirmer strips from 50 patients enrolled in a randomised controlled study of simvastatin in non-infectious uveitis and from a control group of 30 healthy participants. The concentrations of IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and IFN-γ in tears were measured at the study's baseline and again after 8 weeks of treatment using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits.
Objectives: To describe and explore differences in formal regulations around sick leave and work disability (WD) for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), as well as perceptions by rheumatologists and patients on the system's performance, across European countries.
Methods: We conducted three cross-sectional surveys in 50 European countries: one on work (re-)integration and social security (SS) system arrangements in case of sick leave and long-term WD due to RA (one rheumatologist per country), and two among approximately 15 rheumatologists and 15 patients per country on perceptions regarding SS arrangements on work participation. Differences in regulations and perceptions were compared across categories defined by gross domestic product (GDP), type of social welfare regime, European Union (EU) membership and country RA WD rates.

Methods: Thirty-three patients with active RA were prescribed simvastatin (40 mg/day) for 3 months. Most of the patients received background traditional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in stable doses.
This article reviews recent developments in psychoneuroimmunology concerning the relationships between social-stress disorders and the immune system as well as their clinical consequences. In addition, studies exploring the impact of stress-reducing interventions on clinical course of some immunopathological conditions are presented. The analysis suggests that social stress disorders in different situations have the influence on the quantity and activity of immune cells and may lead to the shift of balance between proinflammatory and immunoregulatory cytokine secretion.
