Objective: Primary health workers (PHWs) are a critical pillar of health systems but primary health care centers often struggle to attract and retain talented staff. To better understand why this is, we investigated the job preference of PHWs in a Chinese urban setting.
Methods: In a discrete choice experiment, PHWs from 15 primary health care centers in Guangzhou, China, made trade-offs between several hypothetical job scenario combinations of salary, type of health institution, (permanent post), work years required for promotion, career development and training opportunities, educational opportunities for children, and community respect.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn this study, a novel magnetic poly (tetrafluoroethylene, PTFE) (Fe@PTFE) piezoelectric catalytic material was successfully prepared by a simple ball milling treatment. The prepared piezoelectric catalytic material Fe@PTFE exhibited excellent catalytic performance under the activation of ultrasonic (US) and realized the efficient degradation of imidacloprid (IMI) at low concentrations in an aqueous environment. It was demonstrated by various characterization methods that Fe was successfully loaded onto PTFE particles (1-15 μm) by ball milling.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Southern rice black-streaked dwarf virus (SRBSDV) is a recently discovered member of the genus Fijivirus and it is transmitted by the rice whitebacked planthopper (WBPH), Sogatella furcifera (Horváth). It was found that SRBSDV infected vectors might contribute negatively to the WBPH population, although the longer nymphal period might benefit viral acquisition, transmission and increase infection rate. The interaction between SRBSDV and its vector need to be further explored to gain better understanding of the dispersal of WBPH and the spread of virus disease, in particular the feeding and reproduction behavior of viruliferous WBPH.

The expression pattern of duck L-FABP mRNA was examined in this study by quantitative RT-PCR. The results showed that duck L-FABP gene was expressed in many tissues, including heart, lung, kidney, muscle, ovary, brain, intestine, stomach and adipocyte tissues, and highly expressed in liver.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAbundance of duck adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) mRNA was detected in this study by quantitative real-time PCR. The results showed that duck A-FABP gene was expressed in muscular tissues and many organs, except pancreas, lung, and kidney, and highly expressed in adipose tissues, especially in sebum. The expression of A-FABP and adipocyte differentiation-related genes was upregulated by oleic acid, and the A-FABP knockdown suppressed the oleic acid-stimulated expression of these genes in the cultured duck adipocytes, indicating A-FABP might play an important role in duck adipocyte differentiation.
