The chronic diabetic wounds represented by diabetes foot ulcers (DFUs) are a worldwide challenge. Excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and persistent inflammation caused by the impaired phenotype switch of macrophages from M1 to M2 during wound healing are the main culprits of non-healing diabetic wounds. Therefore, an injectable DMM/GelMA hydrogel as a promising wound dressing was designed to regulate the mitochondrial metabolism of macrophages via inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activity and to promote macrophage repolarization towards M2 type.

In this paper, an integrated few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier (FM-EDFA), with high gain, low differential modal gain (DMG), and low gain flatness for multi-wavelength amplification, is constructed using homemade weakly-coupled ring-core few-mode erbium-doped fiber (FM-EDF) and low insertion-loss passive components. The gain characteristics of the FM-EDFA for multi-wavelength amplification are analyzed in detail and compared with single-wavelength amplification. The experimental results demonstrate that, although multi-wavelength amplification in different modes has an impact on the gain characteristics, through simple LP core pumping only, all guided modes can achieve a gain higher than 22.

Rapid expansion of the probiotics industry demands fast, sensitive, comprehensive, and low-cost strategies for quality assessment. Here, we introduce a culture-free, one-cell-resolution, phenome-genome-combined strategy called Single-Cell Identification, Viability and Vitality tests, and Source-tracking (SCIVVS). For each cell directly extracted from the product, the fingerprint region of DO-probed single-cell Raman spectrum (SCRS) enables species-level identification with 93% accuracy, based on a reference SCRS database from 21 statutory probiotic species, whereas the C-D band accurately quantifies viability, metabolic vitality plus their intercellular heterogeneity.

Red mud is an industrial solid waste rarely utilized and often disposed of in landfills, resulting in resource waste and environmental pollution. Unlabelled: Mimotopes of short CD8+ T-cell epitopes generally comprise one or more mutated residues, and can increase the immunogenicity and function of peptide cancer vaccines. We recently developed a two-step approach to generate enhanced mimotopes using positional peptide microlibraries and herein applied this strategy to the broadly used H-2Kb-restricted murine leukemia p15E tumor rejection epitope. The wild-type p15E epitope (sequence: KSPWFTTL) was poorly immunogenic in mice, even when combined with a potent peptide nanoparticle vaccine system and did not delay p15E-expressing MC38 tumor growth.

Inclusion of defined quantities of the two major surface proteins of influenza virus, hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), could benefit seasonal influenza vaccines. Recombinant HA and NA multimeric proteins derived from three influenza serotypes, H1N1, H3N2, and type B, are surface displayed on nanoliposomes co-loaded with immunostimulatory adjuvants, generating "hexaplex" particles that are used to immunize mice. Protective immune responses to hexaplex liposomes involve functional antibody elicitation against each included antigen, comparable to vaccination with monovalent antigen particles.
