Surface pre-reacted glass-ionomer (S-PRG) filler is a bioactive glass filler capable of releasing various ions. A culture medium to which was added an S-PRG filler eluate rich in boron was reported to enhance alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity in human dental pulp-derived stem cells (hDPSC). To clarify the role of boron eluted from S-PRG fillers, the modified S-PRG filler eluate with different boron concentrations was prepared by using an anion exchange material.

The interaction between IgG and Fc gamma receptor IIIa (FcγRIIIa) is essential for mediating immune responses. Recent studies have shown that the antigen binding fragment (Fab) and Fc are involved in IgG-FcγRIII interactions. Here, we conducted bio-layer interferometry (BLI) and isothermal titration calorimetry to measure the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters that define the role of Fab in forming the IgG-FcγRIII complex using several marketed therapeutic antibodies.

Although some reports suggest that taper-slip cemented stems may be associated with a higher periprosthetic femoral fractures rate than composite-beam cemented stems, few studies have focused on the biomaterial effect of the polished material on the stem-cement interface. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between surface roughness of materials and bone cement. Four types of metal discs-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy (CoCr), stainless steel alloy 316 (SUS), and two titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al)-were prepared.

Numerous studies have shown that the sustained release of ions from dental restorative materials have acid buffering capacity, prevents tooth enamel demineralization, and inhibits bacterial adhesion. Herein, the release behavior and bioresponsiveness of ions released from surface pre-reacted glass-ionomer (S-PRG) fillers were investigated in different types of media based on human dental pulp-derived stem cell (hDPSC) responses. The hDPSCs were cultured for 1-7 days in S-PRG eluates diluted with varying amounts of cell culture media.

Since the advent of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), clinical trials using iPSC-based cell transplantation therapy have been performed in various fields of regenerative medicine. We previously demonstrated that the transplantation of mouse iPSC-derived neurospheres containing neural stem/progenitor cells with bioabsorbable nerve conduits promoted nerve regeneration in the long term in murine sciatic nerve defect models. However, it remains unclear how long the grafted iPSC-derived neurospheres survived and worked after implantation.

Background: We previously demonstrated that a bioabsorbable nerve conduit coated with mouse induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurospheres accelerated peripheral nerve regeneration in mice.

Objective: We examined the fate and utility of iPSC-derived neurospheres transplanted with nerve conduits for the treatment of sciatic nerve gaps in mice.

Methods: Complete 5-mm defects were created in sciatic nerves and reconstructed using nerve conduits that were either uncoated or coated with mouse iPSC-derived neurospheres.

Peripheral nerve regeneration using nerve conduits has been less effective than autogenous nerve grafts. To overcome this hurdle, we developed a tissue-engineered nerve conduit coated with mouse induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurospheres, for the first time, which accelerated nerve regeneration in mice. We previously demonstrated the long-term efficacy and safety outcomes of this hybrid nerve conduit for mouse peripheral nerve regeneration.

α/β-Tubulin inhibitors that alter microtubule (MT) dynamics are commonly used in cancer therapy, however, these inhibitors also cause severe side effects such as peripheral neuropathy. γ-Tubulin is a possible target as antitumor drugs with low side effects, but the antitumor effect of γ-tubulin inhibitors has not been reported yet. In this study, we verified the antitumor activity of gatastatin, a γ-tubulin specific inhibitor.

We oxidized histidine residues in monoclonal antibody drugs of immunoglobulin gamma 1 (IgG1) using ultraviolet C irradiation (UVC: 200-280 nm), which is known to be potent for sterilization or disinfection. Among the reaction products, we identified asparagine and aspartic acid by mass spectrometry. In the photo-induced oxidation of histidine in angiotensin II, O atoms from HO in the solvent were incorporated only into aspartic acid but not into asparagine.
