Rib osteomyelitis is a rare disease, comprising 1% or less of all osteomyelitis. Treatment of rib osteomyelitis includes prolonged antibiotic therapy and surgical intervention. Indications for surgical treatment of rib osteomyelitis remain unclear, however, because of few reported cases.
