Bolometers are rectification devices that convert electromagnetic waves into direct current voltage through a temperature change. A superconducting bolometer has a responsivity of approximately 10-10 V/W under cryogenic temperatures at infrared wavelengths; however, no devices have realized such a high responsivity in the sub-GHz frequency region. We describe a spin bolometer with a responsivity of (4.

We studied nonlinear magnetic anisotropy changes to the DC bias voltage of magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) with capping layers of different thermal resistances. We found that increasing the thickness of MgO capping layers (in the range 0.3-0.

Resting-state functional connectivity is one promising biomarker for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, it is still not known how accurately network analysis identifies AD and MCI across multiple sites. In this study, we examined whether resting-state functional connectivity data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) could identify patients with AD and MCI at our site.

Most biological rhythms are generated by a population of cellular oscillators coupled through intercellular signaling. Recent experimental evidence shows that the collective period may differ significantly from the autonomous period in the presence of intercellular delays. The phenomenon has been investigated using delay-coupled phase oscillators, but the proposed phase model contains no direct biological mechanism, which may weaken the model's reliability in unraveling biophysical principles.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine to what extent we could identify the metabolism product peak using 3-T proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) of the prostate gland in healthy volunteers by combining an external array coil with Malcolm Levitt composite-pulse decoupling sequence (MLEV)-point-resolved spatially localized spectroscopy (PRESS).

Materials And Methods: MRSI data were obtained from the entire prostate gland in six healthy volunteers. The heights of the choline, citrate peaks and the standard deviation (SD) of the noise in each voxel were calculated.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility of using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) imaging (DWI) for evaluating perianal fistula activity.

Materials And Methods: This study retrospectively assessed 24 patients with clinically suspected perianal fistula who underwent a total of 28 MR examinations after conservative treatment with antibiotics. DWI was performed at 1.

Purpose: This retrospective study was designed to evaluate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of line scan diffusion images (LSDI) in normal prostate and prostate cancer. Single-shot echo planner images (SS-EPI) were used for comparison.

Materials And Methods: Twenty prostate tumors were examined by conventional MRI in 14 patients prior to radical prostatectomy.

Spot the Differences is a simple and popular game in which an observer compares a pair of similar pictures to detect the differences between them. Functional activation of the brain while playing this game has not been investigated. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging to investigate the main cortical regions involved in playing this game and compared the sites of cortical activation between a session of playing the game and a session of viewing 2 identical pictures.

Reduction of the specific absorption ratio (SAR) is essential in MR systems with high magnetic fields. Therefore, a variety of SAR-reduced sequences are available on modern 3T-MR systems, and some sequences can be applied under the same conditions as conventional sequences. The purpose of this study was to compare the imaging properties of a phantom acquired by SAR-reduced sequences with those of conventional sequences.
