Background: Migraine is associated with cervical artery dissection (CeAD). Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a multifunctional neuropeptide with vasodilatory effects. The use of anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies (CGRP mAb) may affect cerebrovascular disease risk; however, no reports have associated CGRP mAb with CeAD.

A novel skeletal norhumulene (1) and six xeniaphyllane-derived compounds, including norditerpenoids (2, 3) and diterpenoids (4-7), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the Formosan soft coral Sinularia gibberosa. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. In vitro cytotoxic evaluation of the above metabolites revealed that 2 and 4 showed weak cytotoxicity toward a few cancer cell lines.

New xeniaphyllane-derived metabolites (1-7) were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the Formosan soft coral Sinularia gibberosa. The structures and relative configurations of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis (including 2D NMR) and by comparison of their spectral data with those of related compounds. In vitro cytotoxic evaluation of the above metabolites towards a limited panel of cancer cell lines is also described.

Six new sesquiterpenoids, paralemnolins D-I (1-6), have been isolated from the EtOAc extract of the soft coral Paralemnalia thyrsoides. The structures of these metabolites were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis and by comparison of their spectral data with those of related metabolites. The absolute stereochemistry of these metabolites was established by application of the Mosher's method on 1 and on the basis of the absolute structures of other related compounds previously isolated from the soft corals of the genera Paralemnalia and Lemnalia.

Five novel (22R,23S,24S)-steroids, hippuristerones E-I (1-5), have been isolated from the gorgonian coral Isis hippuris. The structures of steroids 1-5 were deduced by extensive 1D and 2D NMR studies ((1)H, (13)C, (1)H-(1)H COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY experiments). The structure of 1 was further supported by molecular mechanics calculations.
