Introduction: In some cases, scleroderma renal crisis (SRC) is not easily distinguishable from other thrombotic microangiopathies such as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, especially when the presentation includes neurological or extra-renal manifestations. Here, we present a case of SRC who developed a rare neurotoxic complication, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES).A 36-year-old man with a history of diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis developed SRC and acute-on-chronic renal failure and ultimately required maintenance hemodialysis.

Many health care institutions implement information systems to support physicians practicing EBM. However, studies exploring the antecedent factors of physicians' usage intention of information systems facilitating EBM practice are rare.

This study explored the associations among doctor EI, patient trust and the PDR using multi-source and multi-level approaches.
Methods: A total of 994 outpatients and 39 doctors representing 11 specialties were surveyed.
Objective And Method: We have previously successfully applied the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II system to assess the severity of patients with acute paraquat poisoning, and this article investigates further evidence of the usefulness of APACHE II system in predicting the in-hospital mortality of 64 patients with acute paraquat poisoning over a period of 12 years. The predictive factors including APACHE II score, plasma paraquat concentration, severity index of paraquat poisoning (SIPP), and estimated ingestion dosage of paraquat for evaluating the outcome in paraquat-poisoned patients were assessed.
Results: Overall mortality was 71.
Background And Aims: Signet ring cell carcinoma of the rectum (SCCR) is a rare type of rectal carcinoma. This study examined the clinical significance of SCCR.
Patients And Methods: From our medical records we retrospectively identified 61 SCCR patients and compared their clinical data and outcomes to those of 144 consecutive patients with non-SCCR mucinous rectal adenocarcinomas (NSMR) and 2,414 consecutive patients with nonmucinous rectal adenocarcinomas (NMR).

Background And Purpose: Several methods have been proposed to predict prognosis in patients with paraquat poisoning, but all have their limitations. This retrospective study evaluated the usefulness of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II scores in risk stratification for patients with paraquat poisoning.
Methods: Data from 58 adults with a diagnosis of paraquat poisoning presenting to a general hospital over a 10-year period were analyzed.
