The ecosystem regulating services from tidal flats, such as removal of organic pollutants, provided by natural tidal flats are being increasingly recognized, yet quantitative evaluation remains limited. Here we evaluated a nationwide capacity of natural purification in tidal flats. Using in situ sediments from five along the Korean coast (Incheon, Gunsan, Sinan, Gwangyang, and Busan), we applied a mesocosm system informed by 18 years of riverine monitoring data from national surveys.

Using oxygen consumption rate (OCR), osmolality, and mortality as endpoints, the effects of SS concentrations ranging from 0 to 10,000 mg L were assessed. L.

Subsequent saccharification by recombinant GH50A β-agarase or recombinant GH50A β-agarase/recombinant GH117A α-neoagarobiose hydrolase at 35 °C converted NA6/NA4 into neoagarobiose (NA2) or 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose (L-AHG)/D-galactose, respectively. Purification of NA6/NA4 and NA2 was achieved by Sephadex G-15 column chromatography, while L-AHG was purified by Sephadex G-10, achieving ≥ 98 % purity.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to create an evidence-based action guide for academic nurse leaders at all leadership levels to use to improve nurse faculty job satisfaction.
Methods: A two-phase approach was used.
In this study, we prepared , a traditional Korean alcoholic beverage, by adding 20 % raw (Cf) to a base of rice and oats (1:1 ratio) (COM). We analyzed its quality characteristics and antioxidant activity. The rice-based with Cf was designated as the control (CRM).

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 142 myopic children aged 7 to 13 years.
Background: Antipsychotic drugs (APDs) are used for treating mental illnesses and are also used by cancer patients. This study aimed to evaluate APD use in adult cancer patients who received radiotherapy (RT) in South Korea and assess the effects of APD use during RT on survival.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study utilized the National Health Insurance Service database database of Korea.
Purpose: Biological augmentation of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) is gaining attention for its theoretical potential to enhance postoperative healing and recovery. However, its clinical benefits remain uncertain, and its high cost raises questions about efficacy. Hence, we systematically reviewed randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the effectiveness of BMAC in ACL reconstruction.

Computational approaches enable predictive hazard assessment for a large number of chemicals in a high-throughput manner, minimizing the use of animal testing. However, in silico models for predicting mechanisms of toxic actions and potencies are difficult to develop because toxicity datasets or comprehensive understanding of the complicated kinetic process of ligand-receptor interactions are needed for model development.

The interactive pathway of the gut-liver axis underscores the significance of microbiome modulation in the pathogenesis and progression of various liver diseases, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aims to investigate the disparities in the composition and functionality of the hepatic microbiota between tumor tissues and adjacent normal liver tissues, and their implications in the etiology of HCC. We conducted a comparative analysis of the hepatic microbiome between adjacent normal liver tissues and tumor tissues from HCC patients.

Background: The nurse faculty shortage is a persistent and worsening problem, with job dissatisfaction a significant contributor in the United States. However, little is known about actionable behaviors academic nurse leaders can do to improve nurse faculty job satisfaction.
Microalgal bioassays were conducted to evaluate the ecotoxicological effects of suspended sediments (SS) collected from coastal environments. Growth inhibition was assessed for six microalgal species, and multiple endpoints were measured using flow cytometry (FCM) and pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) fluorometry for three species (Dunaliella tertiolecta, Isochrysis galbana, and Phaeodactylum tricornutum). Among these, the EC50 for growth inhibition of D.

Background: PES-NWI and NMs' competency can impact frontline nurses' intent to stay.
Methods: Cross-sectional study with secondary analysis of NM Competency and NDNQI ® (National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators ® ) RN Survey data with path analysis for effects of the model's variables.
The surge in renewable energy demand, particularly from offshore wind farm (OWF), raises concerns about underwater noise pollution during their construction. Despite extensive studies on underwater noise impacts in European and Western countries, local species targeted investigations are crucial for global application. We assessed how pile driving noise during OWF construction affected the behavior of three juvenile Korean fishes (Lateolabrax japonicus, Acanthopagrus schlegelii, and Platichthys stellatus) prevalent in East Asian seas.

There is no available quantitative instrument to measure the type and frequency of workarounds when nurses administer medications. The purpose of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of a newly developed instrument that measured the type and frequency of workarounds when nurses administer medications to patients.

This assessment thoroughly examines the safety of seafood products, considering the diverse processing methods employed in the industry. The importance of understanding the behavior of foodborne pathogens, such as Salmonella typhimurium, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Clostridium botulinum, Listeria monocytogenes, human norovirus, and hepatitis A virus, is emphasized by recent cases of gastroenteritis outbreaks linked to contaminated seafood.

The measurement and monitoring of multiple (often interacting) domains is crucial to gain a holistic and complete insight into an individual's mental fitness. We aimed to demonstrate the capability of a new mobile app to characterise the mental fitness of a general population of Australians and to quantify the interrelationships among different domains of mental fitness.
