Near full-length genome SARS-CoV-2 sequences were obtained from viral RNA, standard lineage and variant assignments were performed, and viral mutations in the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) region-the RDV target gene-were detected and compared between participants with and without RDV, across the four compartments, within participants across visits, and versus a larger sequence dataset.

We investigated the capability of baseline brain [F]FDG-PET in differentiating between iRBD patients eventually phenoconverting to PD or DLB, by deriving the denovoPDRBD-related pattern (denovoPDRBD-RP) from 32 de novo PD patients; and the denovoDLBRBD-RP from 30 de novo DLB patients, both with evidence of RBD at diagnosis. To explore [F]FDG-PET phenoconversion trajectories prediction power, we applied these two patterns on a group of 115 iRBD patients followed longitudinally.

Clinical Utility of Deep Learning Assistance for Detecting Various Abnormal Findings in Color Retinal Fundus Images: A Reader Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical usefulness of a deep learning-based detection device for multiple abnormal findings on retinal fundus photographs for readers with varying expertise.

Methods: Fourteen ophthalmologists (six residents, eight specialists) assessed 399 fundus images with respect to 12 major ophthalmologic findings, with or without the assistance of a deep learning algorithm, in two separate reading sessions. Sensitivity, specificity, and reading time per image were compared.

Organoid intelligence for developmental neurotoxicity testing.

The increasing prevalence of neurodevelopmental disorders has highlighted the need for improved testing methods to determine developmental neurotoxicity (DNT) hazard for thousands of chemicals. This paper proposes the integration of organoid intelligence (OI); leveraging brain organoids to study neuroplasticity into the DNT testing paradigm. OI brings a new approach to measure the impacts of xenobiotics on plasticity mechanisms - a critical biological process that is not adequately covered in current DNT assays.

Association of the COVID-19 Pandemic with HbA1c Testing and Complication Screening in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the association between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission levels and undergoing glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test and complication screenings among patients with diabetes mellitus.

Materials And Methods: We included a total of 3601 diabetes patients' data from the 2020 Korean Community Health Survey to analyze the extent of the HbA1c testing and fundus examination, and 3592 diabetes patients' data to analyze kidney disease screening. COVID-19 transmission levels were classified into low transmission (Busan, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, and Sejong) and high transmission (Daegu, where the first large outbreak of COVID-19 occurred in Korea).

Regional variations in primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction patients: A trajectory analysis using the national claims database in Japan.

Background: Previous studies have demonstrated geographical disparities regarding the quality of care for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The aim of this study was two-fold: first, to calculate the proportion of patients with AMI who received primary percutaneous coronary interventions (pPCIs) by secondary medical areas (SMAs), which provide general inpatient care, as a quality indicator (QI) of the process of AMI practice. Second, to identify patterns in their trajectories and to investigate the factors related to regional differences in their trajectories.

Development of a root-zone temperature control system using air-source heat pump and its impact on the growth and yield of paprika.

By developing and implementing a local temperature control system, such as a root zone, with a high energy efficiency heat source, we can ensure both yield and energy efficiency against extreme temperatures. This system, designed with practicality in mind, has a remarkably positive impact on paprika plants' growth and yield in greenhouse cultivation. In the summer season, paprika plants were grown with no cooling, nutrient solution cooling (NSC) and the combination of NSC and substrate surround cooling (SSC) (NSC + SSC).

Prediction of Pharmacokinetic Drug-Drug Interactions Involving Anlotinib as a Victim by Using Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Modeling.

Background: Anlotinib was approved as a third line therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer in China. However, the impact of concurrent administration of various clinical drugs on the drug-drug interaction (DDI) potential of anlotinib remains undetermined. As such, this study aims to evaluate the DDI of anlotinib as a victim by establishing a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model.

The appropriate use of gastrostomy tubes in palliative surgery.

Palliative surgery is defined as an operation or procedure performed with the primary intention of relieving symptoms or improving quality of life. Gastrostomy tubes are often employed with palliative intent but, like many palliative interventions, there is insufficient data to facilitate surgical decision-making. This can be challenging for healthcare professionals as caring for palliative patients often encompasses end of life care, severe life-altering symptoms, and poor prognosis.

In total, 48 patients with chronic insomnia disorder, and 48 age-, sex- and body mass index-matched controls were included in this study. They completed self-reported questionnaires to assess subjective sleep and emotional distress.
