Background: Human placental hydrolysate (hPH) contains anti-inflammatory substances. This study aimed to analyze whether injecting hPH into the subacromial space could reduce pain in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
Methods: This single-blind, randomized controlled study enrolled 50 patients with shoulder impingement syndrome who were randomly assigned to either the hPH or placebo groups.
The monosynaptic cortico-motoneuronal connections suggest the possibility of individual motor units (MUs) receiving independent commands from motor cortex. However, previous studies that used corticomuscular coherence (CMC) between electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and electromyogram (EMG) signals have not directly explored the corticospinal functionality at the single motoneuron level. The objective of this study is to find out whether synchronous activities exist between the motor cortex and individual MUs.

Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate the modified irritant gas syndrome agent (IGSA) criteria, utilizing readily available triage information and epidemiologic data to efficiently segregate patients based on the severity of hydrofluoric acid (HFA) exposure.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 160 patients exposed to HFA was performed to develop the criteria and assess the criteria's efficacy, focusing on age, respiratory rate, and compliance with IGSA standards. The criteria's validity was assessed by comparing clinical outcomes between patients meeting the modified IGSA (mIGSA) criteria and those who did not as external and internal.
Infected alveolar bone defects pose challenging clinical issues due to disrupted intrinsic healing mechanisms. Thus, the employment of advanced biomaterials enabling the modulation of several aspects of bone regeneration is necessary. This study investigated the effect of multi-functional nanoparticles on anti-inflammatory/osteoconductive characteristics and bone repair in the context of inflamed bone abnormalities.

Methods: We searched electronic databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, CENTRAL, Web of Science, and SCOPUS, for relevant studies.
Background/aims: To evaluate the associations between pediatric fatty liver severity, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and magnetic resonance imaging parameters, including total psoas muscle surface area (tPMSA) and paraspinal muscle fat (PMF).
Methods: Children and adolescents who underwent BIA and liver magnetic resonance imaging between September 2022 and November 2023 were included. Linear regression analyses identified predictors of liver proton density fat fraction (PDFF) including BIA parameters, tPMSA, and PMF.
This study explores carbon sequestration in South Korea's riverine wetlands, focusing on the four major rivers: Han, Yeongsan, Geum, and Nakdong. Field data from the Yeongsan River wetland, including 3D topography surveys, grainsize analyses, and loss-on-ignition measurements, were used to assess carbon stocks and their environmental drivers. The Yeongsan River was selected as a representative site due to its geomorphological, hydrological, and climatic similarities with the other three major rivers, which influence sediment transport and carbon dynamics.

Chest radiographs from patients under 19 years old, collected between March and November 2021, were divided into test and exploring sets. A commercial adult-oriented AI software was utilized to detect lung lesions, including pneumothorax, consolidation, nodule, and pleural effusion, using a standard operating point of 15%.

While NAMs have been established for various industries, such as cosmetics, pesticides, and drugs, their applications in natural products (NPs) are lacking. NPs' complexity (multiple ingredients and structural differences from synthetic compounds) complicates NAM development.

Despite the recognized effectiveness of SGLT-2 inhibitors, there remains a paucity of research on the discontinuation of these medications. The objective of this study is to analyze the rate of discontinuation of SGLT-2 inhibitors, to evaluate the impact of discontinuation on the clinical outcome, and to identify the factors associated with discontinuation.

XRD measurements show clear evidence of structural phase transition (SPT) of the LCO thin films from the perovskite (PV) LaCoO to the brownmillerite (BM) LaCoO phases through the intermediate LaCoO phase at a temperature of 350 °C under high-vacuum conditions, ∼10 mbar. The reverse SPT from BM to PV phases is also found under ambient pressure (>100 mbar) of air near 100 °C.

This study examines the growth of rutile SnGeO films through oxygen-plasma-assisted hybrid molecular beam epitaxy (hMBE). The film composition and thickness are evaluated across a range of growth conditions, with the outcomes rationalized by using density functional theory calculations.

Nanofibers, although commonly used as tissue engineering scaffolds, undergo structural deformations easily, making it challenging to create uniform tissue, especially for the smallest-diameter ones such as perforating arteries. This study focused on the development of a platform capable of reconstructing structurally and functionally replicated perforating arteries.

Background: High-dimensional datasets with low sample sizes (HDLSS) are pivotal in the fields of biology and bioinformatics. One of core objective of HDLSS is to select most informative features and discarding redundant or irrelevant features. This is particularly crucial in bioinformatics, where accurate feature (gene) selection can lead to breakthroughs in drug development and provide insights into disease diagnostics.
