Background And Purpose: The current study aimed to study the therapeutic effects of lupeol as a nutritional triterpene on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) disorders in separate and concurrent models.

Experimental Approach: This study was performed in three sets and each set contained 4 groups of female mice (n = 6), including control, NAFLD or PCOS and/or NAFLD/PCOS, lupeol, and metformin (MET). The treatment groups following the induction of disorders were treated with lupeol (40 mg/kg, orally) or MET (500 mg/kg, orally) for 28 days.

Objevtive: Evasion of apoptosis is a major feature of cancer cells, therefore designing treatment strategies to target apoptotic pathways seems effective. In this study, we investigate the effect of 17-AAG (17-allylaminogeldanamycin) alone and in double and triple combination with capecitabine (Cap) and irinotecan (IR) on HT-29 colon cancer cell line apoptosis.

Methods: Capase-3, 8, 9, p53 and NF-κB genes expression were analyzed by Real-time PCR.

Dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) is the principal enzyme in the catabolism of fluoropyrimidine drugs including capecitabine. A recent report has suggested that oxaliplatin chemotherapy is associated with elevated DPD levels and chemoresistance pattern. As a newly developed chemotherapeutic agent, 17-allyloamino-17-demethoxy-geldanamycin (17-AAG) can be effective in combination therapy with oxaliplatin and capecitabine in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Unlabelled: Evidence showed that, pro inflammatory cytokines and mediators of innate immune responses may involve in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia (PE). Therefore, the present investigation aimed to examine the possible effects of placental TNF-α and TLR4 polymorphisms on PE susceptibility.

Methods: The placental tissues were collected after delivery from 111 PE and 115 healthy pregnant women.

Anti-proliferative, anti-metastatic and anti-angiogenic effects of 17‑allylamino‑17‑demethoxy geldanamycin (17-AAG) were studied alone and in combination with Capecitabine (Cap) and/or Irinotecan (IR) on HT-29 human colorectal carcinoma cells. Expression of MMP-9 (matrix metalloproteinase‑9) and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) mRNA was analyzed by real-time PCR method. The study was further followed by wound scratch assay for migration assessment.
