Paediatric Hand Fractures - A Review.

Paediatric hand fractures account for approximately 25% of hand-related emergency department visits, making them the second most common childhood fractures after distal forearm fractures. These injuries are more prevalent in boys and peak ages between 9 and 14 years. Hand fractures in children are primarily caused by crushing injuries and, increasingly in older children, by sports-related activities.

Fracture of an aberrant os styloideum: a unique case report.

Several accessory bones can be found around the wrist, which may pose a diagnostic challenge. Hereby, we report a unique case of a traumatic fracture of an aberrant os styloideum in a 66-year-old male. The patient presented with a swollen dominant right hand and a hematoma on its anterior and posterior aspects, as a result of a fall on an outstretched hand.

EFFECT OF LOCALLY DELIVERED BISPHOSPHONATES ON ALVEOLAR BONE: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS.

Objective: To assess the effect of locally applied bisphosphonate drugs on alveolar bone defects caused by periodontitis and marginal bone level after placement of dental implants.

Materials And Methods: Three electronic databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Scopus) were searched from January 2010 until May 2020 for randomized controlled clinical trials reporting the effect of locally delivered bisphosphonates on alveolar bone. The risk of bias was assessed and quantitative synthesis was conducted with both fixed and random-effects meta-analyses by using RevMan version 5.

Posterior Interosseous Nerve Injury After a Fracture of Ulna and Radius: A Case Report.

The aim of this study is present a case of isolated injury to the branch of posterior interosseous nerve. A 27-year-old gentleman was presented with an inability to extend the ulnar three fingers of his left hand after sustaining closed fractures of the left ulna and radius after a motorbicycle accident. The patient recovered partially over the course of 3 months but continues to be functionally compromised by the persistent radial deviation of his left wrist and incomplete mobility of the ulnar 3 fingers upon extension.

Outcomes for late presenting lateral condyle fractures of the humerus in children: A case series.

Background: Fractures of lateral condyle of humerus are very common in children. While the management of acute displaced and rotated lateral condyle fracture of humerus with early open reduction and internal fixation yields good results, the results of late treatment are less clear. We conducted this study to analyse the results of operative treatment of late presenting fractures and see if it is dependent on the patient's age, fracture type, or the time until treatment.

Outline of Hand and Wrist Injuries Presenting to an Emergency of a Tertiary Care Centre in Nepal.

Background: Hand and wrist injuries are getting commoner with increasing incidence of injuries and accidents. This study aims to identify the prevalence and pattern of hand and wrist injuries presenting to the emergency department of a tertiary care center of Nepal.

Methods: The study was conducted through review of electronic data of the patient in the emergency department database for the period of 1 Nov 2005 till 31 Oct 2015.
