Although curcumin has been investigated in managing periodontitis, its therapeutic benefits have not been fully explored due to its limited solubility in an aqueous medium. Transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-β1) plays a significant role in breast cancer mediated bone metastasis, and it stimulated expression of matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13; an invasive and metastasis gene) via activating transcription factor-3 (ATF-3) in human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB231). We further dissected the role of ATF-3 and its interacting proteins (activator protein-1; AP-1) for TGF-β1-stimulation of MMP-13 expression in these cells. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) experiment identified the TGF-β1-stimulation of ATF-3 interaction at the AP-1 site of the MMP-13 promoter in a sustained and prolonged manner in MDA-MB231 cells.

In the present study we examined 13 banana (Musa spp.) genotypes belonging to different genomic groups with respect to total leaf cuticular wax concentration, chemical composition, carbon chain length and their relationship with leaf water retention capacity (LWRC). A positive correlation between epicuticular wax content and LWRC clearly indicated that the cuticular wax plays an important role in maintaining banana leaf water content.

Dentigerous cysts are odontogenic developmental cysts, which mostly surround the crown of unerupted teeth, odontomas or supernumerary teeth. These cysts are mostly solitary in occurrence and their bilateral presentation is rare, especially in the absence of syndromes such as Maroteaux-Lamy, basal cell nevus or cleidocranial dysplasia. We present an unusual case of a 24-year-old female with nonsyndromic bilateral dentigerous cysts associated with unerupted mandibular canines that were diagnosed histopathologically as dentigerous cysts.

The expression of metastasis associated protein (MTA1) correlates well with tumor metastasis; however its role as a proangiogenic protein and the molecular mechanisms underlying the same are not fully understood. In this study the MTA1 protein was expressed and purified to evaluate its angiogenic potential. In both MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells, endogenous MTA1 protein was localized in the nucleus; while added recombinant MTA1 protein was bound to cell membrane as per immunofluorescence data.
