Evaluation of Ear in Otologically Asymptomatic Patients of Chronic Rhinosinusitis.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the ear in otologically asymptomatic patients of chronic rhinosinusitis and summarize the otological and audiological findings. This is a cross sectional study conducted in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, Jaipur Golden Hospital, New Delhi, from January 2019 to October 2019. 80 cases aged between 15 and 55 years with Chronic rhinosinusitis were included in the study.

Theoretical insights into molecular mechanism and energy criteria of PARP-2 enzyme inhibition by benzimidazole analogues.

The emergence of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors targeting a class of PARP enzymes has gained a great interest in cancer therapy. Majority of the PARP inhibitors are not isoform-selective which may cause unwanted off-target effects. In the present study, we explore the molecular mechanism and energy requirements for PARP-2 inhibition.

Options for coronary translocation and other considerations in aortic root translocation (Bex-Nikaidoh procedure).

Introduction: The surgical options for patients with transposition of the great arteries (TGA), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction include intracardiac baffling with the right ventricle to pulmonary artery (PA) conduit (Rastelli procedure), "" or aortic root translocation (Bex-Nikaidoh procedure). The Bex-Nikaidoh procedure allows a more normal, anatomically aligned left ventricular outflow tract. However, the operation is technically demanding, and coronary translocation remains one of the major challenges for successful root translocation.

Efficacy of Three Types of Plaque Control Methods During Fixed Orthodontic Treatment: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of three types of plaque control methods among 13- to 35-year-old subjects receiving fixed orthodontic treatment in Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet, Coorg district, Karnataka, India.

Materials And Methods: A total of 111 subjects who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were randomly included in the study. The subjects were recalled after 1 month of the commencement of fixed orthodontic treatment for the recording of baseline data including plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and modified papillary bleeding index (MPBI).

The aim of the present study was to ascertain the effectiveness of seminal plasma mRNAs as markers to assess the reproductive performance of bulls. Background: Sense of coherence (SOC) is an important psychological factor that enables people to cope with stressors and successfully maintain and improve health. Oral health affects general health and impacts quality of life. Evaluation of Two Facebow/Semi-adjustable Articulator Systems for Orienting Maxillary Cast on Articulators: A Pilot Study.

Aim: The present study was aimed to assess the transferability of occlusal plane (OP) orientation from the patient to the articulators with the help of two different facebow systems and evaluated with a gold standard.

Materials And Methods: Twenty dentate patients were selected for the study. Two semi-adjustable arcon articulators that are Hanau Wide(®) Vue using SpringBow and Whip Mix(®) using quick-mount facebow were used in the study.

Innovative approach in the management of horse-shoe fistula-in-ano with Kṣārasūtra.

Fistula-in-ano is a common surgical problem. Horse-shoe fistulas usually have an internal opening in the posterior midline and extend anteriorly and laterally to one or both ischiorectal spaces by way of the deep potential space. The "Śambukāvarta Bhagandara" described by Suśruta can be correlated with the horse-shoe type of fistula.

Study of DNA light switch Ru(II) complexes: synthesis, characterization, photocleavage and antimicrobial activity.

The three Ru(II) complexes of [Ru(phen)(2)dppca](2+) (1) [Ru(bpy)(2)dppca](2+) (2) and [Ru(dmb)(2)dppca](2+) (3) (where phen = 1,10 phenanthroline, bpy = 2,2-bipyridine, dmb = 2 ,2-dimethyl 2',2'-bipyridine and polypyridyl ligand containing a single carboxylate functionality dppca ligand (dipyridophenazine-11-carboxylic acid) have been synthesized and characterized. These complexes have been shown to act as promising calf thymus DNA intercalators and a new class of DNA light switches, as evidenced by UV-visible and luminescence titrations with Co(2+) and EDTA, steady-state emission quenching by [Fe(CN)(6)](4-) and KI, DNA competitive binding with ethidium bromide, viscosity measurements, and DNA melting experiments. The results suggest that 1, 2, and 3 complexes bind to CT-DNA through intercalation and follows the order 1 > 2 > 3.

Synthesis, characterization luminiscence studies and microbial activity of ethylenediamine ruthenium (II) complexes with dipyridophenazine ligands.

Three symmetric ligands 7-methyl dipyrido-[3,2-a;2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz-CH(3)), 7-nitro dipyrido-[3,2-a;2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz-NO(2)) and benzo[i]dipyrido-[3,2-a;2',3'-c]phenazine (dppn) and their ruthenium(II) complexes [Ru(en)(2)(L)][ClO(4)](2) (en= ethylenediamine), L= dppz-CH(3), dppz-NO(2) and dppn have been synthesized and characterized by IR, (1)H, (13)C NMR and Mass spectra. The interactions of these complexes with calf thymus DNA have been investigated by spectrophotometric, spectrofluorimetric, circular dichroism, viscosity and thermal denaturation studies. As the planar extension of the intercalative ligand increases, the interaction of the complex with DNA increases, indicating that the size and shape of the intercalalative ligand has a marked effect on the strength of interaction.

Synthesis, characterization, DNA binding properties, fluorescence studies and toxic activity of cobalt(III) and ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes.

The new ligand 4-(isopropylbenzaldehyde)imidazo[4,5-f ][1,10]phenanthroline (ippip) and its complexes [Ru(phen)(2)(ippip)](2+)(1),[Co(phen)(2)(ippip)](3+)(2),[Ru(bpy)(2)(ippip)](2+)(3),[Co(bpy)(2)(ippip)](3+)(4)(bpy=2,2-bipyridine) and (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) were synthesized and characterized by ES(+)-MS, (1)H and (13)C NMR. The DNA binding properties of the four complexes were investigated by different spectrophotometric methods and viscosity measurements. The results suggest that complexes bind to calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) through intercalation.

Nestmateship and body size do not influence mate choice in males and females: a laboratory study of a primitively eusocial wasp Ropalidia marginata.

We investigated the effect of nestmateship and body size on mate selection through a choice based assay in the primitively eusocial wasp Ropalidia marginata. A recent study has shown that male and female R. marginata mate with their nestmates and non-nestmates with equal probability if no choice is available.

Agenesis of isthmus of thyroid gland in adult human cadavers: a case series.

The thyroid gland, a highly vascular endocrine gland, is composed of two lateral lobes connected by a narrow median isthmus thus giving an 'H' shaped appearance to the gland. A wide range of morphological variations and developmental anomalies of the thyroid gland have been reported in the literature. In our study, on the morphometric features of the thyroid gland it was found that, 6 out of 41 thyroid glands that were dissected, showed an absence of the isthmus.

DNA Binding and Photocleavage Studies of Cobalt(III) Ethylenediamine Pyridine Complexes: [Co(en)2(py)2]3+ and [Co(en)2(mepy)2]3+.

Two novel cobalt(III) pyridine complexes (1)[Co(en)2(py)2]3+ and (2)[Co(en)2(mepy)2]3+ (en=ethylenediamine, py=pyridine, and mepy=methylpyridine) have been synthesized and characterized. The interaction of these complexes with calf thymus DNA was investigated by absorption, emission spectroscopy, viscosity measurements, DNA melting, and DNA photocleavage. Results suggest that the two complexes bind to DNA via groove mode and complex 2 binds more strongly to CT DNA than complex 1.
