Background: Early rhythm control reduces the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Despite the superiority of catheter ablation in maintaining sinus rhythm, the knowledge gaps regarding the prognostic benefits of non-early (onset of AF ≥1 year) ablation remain.
Objective: The study aimed to describe outcomes of non-early AF in the CABANA trial.
Background: The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasing every year and is characterized by a prolonged course, frequent relapses, difficulty in curing, and a lack of more efficacious therapeutic biomarkers. The aim of this study was to find key core genes as therapeutic biomarkers for IBD.
Methods: GSE75214 in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) was used as the experimental set.

Background: Stroke and thromboembolism in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) primarily arise from thrombi or sludge in the left atrial appendage (LAA). Comprehensive insight into the characteristics of these formations is essential for effective risk assessment and management.
Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective observational of 176 consecutive NVAF patients with confirmed atrial/appendage thrombus or sludge determined by a pre-ablation transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) from December 2017 to April 2019.
Background: The effect of total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) and inhalation anaesthesia (IA) on the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer after resection is controversial. This study aimed to explore the effects of different anaesthesia methods on the postoperative prognosis of colorectal cancer.
Methods: PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases were searched for relevant literature from each database's inception until 18 November 2023.
Background: Depression and anxiety are common mental disorders in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC); however, it remains unclear whether they are related to cancer mortality.
Method: Based on a systematic literature search, 12 eligible studies involving 26,907 patients with CRC were included in this study.
Results: Univariate analysis revealed that anxiety was associated with an all-cause mortality rate of 1.

Background: Wearable devices based on the PPG algorithm can detect atrial fibrillation (AF) effectively. However, further investigation of its application on long-term, continuous monitoring of AF burden is warranted.
Method: The performance of a smartwatch with continuous photoplethysmography (PPG) and PPG-based algorithms for AF burden estimation was evaluated in a prospective study enrolling AF patients admitted to Beijing Anzhen Hospital for catheter ablation from September to November 2022.
Background: Pudendal nerve block (PNB) is a commonly used anesthesia method that has been widely used in postoperative analgesia for hemorrhoids in recent years. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of double-blind randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to analyze the effectiveness of PNB in postoperative analgesia for hemorrhoids.
Methods: Relevant data and studies published from inception until August 14, 2023, were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science to evaluate the beneficial effects of PNB for analgesia following hemorrhoidectomy.
Background: Evidence was lacking for the early choice of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) among patients with early-onset atrial fibrillation (AF).
Hypothesis: This study aimed to explore whether earlier RFA was associated with better clinical outcomes among early-onset AF patients.
Methods: Patients, who were diagnosed with AF before 45 years and underwent their first RFA procedures at baseline of the China Atrial Fibrillation registry, were enrolled and divided into four diagnosis-to-ablation time (DAT) groups: DAT ≤ 1 year, 1 year < DAT ≤ 3 years, 3 years < DAT ≤ 6 years, and DAT > 6 years.

Background: Despite undergoing a single ablation, many patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) experience a gradually increasing recurrence rate. This study aims to examine the relationship between left atrial appendage emptying velocity (LAAeV) and filling velocity (LAAfV) profiles and 3-year recurrence of AF after ablation.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study of 658 consecutive PAF patients who underwent their first ablation between January 2018 and December 2019.
Background: Numberous studies have heatedly discussed whether obesity is a risk factor for anastomotic leakage (AL) because of the increasing number of colorectal cancer (CRC) cases and high incidence of CRC in patients with obesity.
Objective: We aimed to explore the relationship between visceral obesity(VO) and AL after CRC surgery. The databases of Pubmed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were searched for relevant data and articles published until November 1, 2022.
Aims: This study aims to provide representative information on heart failure (HF) patients in China, especially older adults aged ≥75 years. We aim to clarify the age-related discrepancies in performance measures and the modifying effect of age on the impact of HF patients' characteristics on clinical outcomes.
Methods And Results: All HF patients admitted into five tertiary and four secondary hospitals of the Capital Medical University were divided into two groups according to age: 1419 (53.
Background: Anastomotic leakage (AL) is a serious complication of anterior resection for rectal cancer. The use of transanal drainage tubes (TDT) during surgery to prevent AL remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to determine the efficacy of TDT in reducing AL.

Intraoperative use of indocyanine green fluorescence angiography (ICGFA) can help prevent anastomotic leakage, but its use is controversial. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the efficacy of ICGFA in reducing anastomotic leakage.

This tumor has an indetectable early symptom and frequent recurrences. Here, we present the case of a 31-year-old man with proximal-type epithelioid sarcoma of the perineum who underwent wide excision.

Methods: A systematic search of articles (PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library) was performed to identify studies using the terms Platelet count, Thrombocytosis, Thrombocytoses, Thrombocythemia or Thrombocythemias with colon, colonic, rectal, rectum, colorectal and prognostic, prognosis, survival or outcome.
Results: Thirteen eligible studies with 3964 patients were included.
Objective: We aimed to determine the prevalence of and the factors associated with intraventricular conduction disturbance in the Chinese population.
Methods: Electrocardiographic data from 42,031 people were retrospectively analysed. The weighted prevalences of left bundle branch block (LBBB), right bundle branch block (RBBB), bifascicular block and nonspecific intraventricular conduction delay (NS-IVCD) were calculated.
BACKGROUND Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) reduction improves cardiovascular outcomes. This study investigates the relationship between lipid levels and outcomes in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation by LDL-C quarters. MATERIAL AND METHODS Patients with atrial fibrillation were enrolled from 31 typical hospitals in China.

We aimed to compare the uptake of secondary CVD prevention between stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD) patients in China.
Methods: In a cross-sectional community-based survey of 47,841 adults (age ≥45 years) in 7 regions of China between 2014 and 2016, we identified those with a history of stroke or CHD to quantify disparities in conventional secondary CVD prevention strategies in multivariable logistic regression models.
A simple method is proposed for measuring frequency responses of photodetectors (PDs) based on wavelength-to-time mapping in this paper. The proposed method is an all-optical scheme, which is simple, fast, accurate and free from any extra calibration. Optical pulses emitted from a mode-locked laser are firstly pre-chirped by a spool of dispersive compensation fiber.
