Emerging evidence has shown that assortative mating (AM) is a key factor that shapes the landscape of complex human traits. It can increase the overall prevalence of disorders, influence occurrences of comorbidities, and bias estimation of genetic architectures. However, there is lack of large-scale studies to examine the cultural differences and the generational trends of AM for psychiatric disorders.

Formamidinium-lead triiodide (FAPbI) perovskite holds promise as a prime candidate in the realm of perovskite photovoltaics. However, the photo-active α-FAPbI phase, existing as a metastable state, is observable solely at elevated temperatures and is susceptible to degradation into the δ-phase in ambient air. Therefore, the attainment of phase-stable α-FAPbI in ambient conditions has become a crucial objective in perovskite research.

Article Synopsis
  • A study in Taiwan analyzed over 2.7 million children born between 2001-2017 to investigate if advanced paternal age increases the risk of epilepsy in their offspring.
  • The findings showed that while there was a higher risk of epilepsy in children with fathers aged 50 and older, this association diminished when considering the age difference between parents.
  • Ultimately, the results suggest that the perceived link between older paternal age and offspring epilepsy may be influenced more by familial factors rather than direct genetic mutations from older fathers.
