Pyroptosis in liver disease.

Pyroptosis is an inflammatory cell death process that is dependent on caspase. Pyroptosis is a specific form of programmed cell death with the morphological characteristics of formation of pores on the cell membrane, cell swelling, and rupture of the plasma membrane. Recent studies have demonstrated that pyroptosis plays an important role in the occurrence and development of liver diseases.
