Although stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is effective for central neurocytoma (CN), the long-term outcome of SRS remains unclear. We present a case of recurrent CN that was diagnosed 10years after surgical resection and consecutive stereotactic radiotherapy. The patient was treated with SRS for the recurrent tumor, but underwent two-staged surgery once again due to rapid tumor growth.

We report a case of possible immunoglobulin G4-related disease(IgG4-RD)that resulted in complications such as retroperitoneal fibrosis and infundibulohypophysitis. The patient was a 72-year-old male who presented with polyuria and polydipsia. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)revealed a thickened pituitary stalk and contrast enhancement with gadolinium.

A 30-year-old woman suffered cerebellar hemorrhage during the delivery of her first child. She had undergone surgical removal of a symptomatic cerebellar hemangioblastoma 6 years previously. Neuroradiological examinations indicated recurrent hemangioblastoma, confirmed by histological examination of the surgical specimen.

Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) of the lung is rare and is considered to be low-grade malignancy. Intracranial metastasis of pulmonary EMC has not previously been reported according to our search of the literature. We report a case of skull metastasis as the initial manifestation of pulmonary EMC.

We treated 12 patients with pituitary apoplexy out of 103 patients with pituitary tumors from August 1994 to March 2008 in the Nishi-Kobe Medical Center. The male to female ratio was 1:2 and the average age was 43 years old, ranging from 19 to 73. The symptoms on presentation were a decrease of visual acuity in nine, headache in seven, endocrinological disturbance in six, visual field defect in seven, a febrile state in six, vomiting in four, oculomotor disturbance in two, abducens palsy in one, and transient altered consciousness in one.

The authors present a patient with a spinal subdural abscess (SSA) in the cervical region and review the relevant literature. A 48-year-old man suffering from intractable high fever and back pain was admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of meningitis. Despite antibiotic therapy, his condition deteriorated and he developed neurological deficits including left hemiparesis, sensory disturbance and bladder dysfunction.

The neuroprotective effects of estrogen were studied in the ischemic model mice by 90 min transient unilateral middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) followed by 22.5 h reperfusion. The total infarct size in C57BL/6 female mice after MCAO and reperfusion was significantly smaller than that in male mice.

Protein kinase C (PKC) plays a prominent role in immune signaling. To elucidate the signal transduction in a respiratory burst and isoform-specific function of PKC during FcgammaR-mediated phagocytosis, we used live, digital fluorescence imaging of mouse microglial cells expressing GFP-tagged molecules. betaI PKC, epsilonPKC, and diacylglycerol kinase (DGK) beta dynamically and transiently accumulated around IgG-opsonized beads (BIgG).

A recombinant adenoviral tetracycline-regulated system with neuron-specific enolase (NSE) promoter was injected stereotaxically into the striatum of rat brains. The efficiency of in vivo transfection was quantified by counting the number of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-positive cells at 3 days, 1 week, and 4 weeks after injection. NeuN immunohistochemistry demonstrated that expression of gammaPKC-GFP was dominant (20-99%) in neuron and expression of gammaPKC-GFP in neuron was significantly higher in pups than adult rats.

Case Report: We report a case of congenital intracranial cavernous angioma, which was initially found at a gestational age of 34 weeks in utero as a mass lesion associated with hydrocephalus. After birth, the patient was treated for hydrocephalus first by external drainage and then by ventricular peritoneal shunt. The natural course of the mass lesion was observed until the age of 8 months when the histopathological diagnosis confirmed the cavernous angioma after tissue was obtained by surgery.
