Monitoring dynamic neurochemical signals in the brain of free-moving animals remains great challenging in biocompatibility and direct implantation capability of current electrodes. Here we created a self-supporting polymer-based flexible microelectrode (rGPF) with sufficient bending stiffness for direct brain implantation without extra devices, but demonstrating low Young's modulus with remarkable biocompatibility and minimal position shifts. Meanwhile, screening by density functional theory (DFT) calculation, we designed and synthesized specific ligands targeting Mg and Ca, and constructed Mg-E and Ca-E sensors with high selectivity, good reversibility, and fast response time, successfully monitoring Mg and Ca in vivo up to 90 days.

Here, we report a coordinated intratumor shift among distinct cancer subtypes within progenitor-like families of epileptic GBM patients, revealing an accumulation of oligodendrocyte progenitor (OPC)-like subpopulations at the cancer-neuron interface along with heightened electrical signaling activity in the surrounding neuronal networks. The OPC-like cells associated with epilepsy express KCND2, which encodes the voltage-gated K channel K4.

Recent advances in the integration of in vivo electrochemical sensors with cross-disciplinary advances have reinvigorated the development of in vivo sensors with even better performance. In this Review, we summarize the recent advances in molecular design, electrode materials, and electrochemical devices for in vivo electrochemical sensors from molecular to macroscopic dimensions, highlighting the methods to obtain high performance for fulfilling the requirements for determination in the complex brain through flexible and smart design of molecules, materials, and devices.

This study was designed to investigate the role of apelin in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Methods: A total of 235 patients with T2DM were included.
Tachinid flies are natural enemies of many lepidopteran and coleopteran pests of forests, crops, and fruit trees. In order to address the lack of genetic data in this economically important group, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of the Palaearctic tachinid fly Elodia flavipalpis Aldrich, 1933. Usually found in Northern China and Japan, this species is one of the primary natural enemies of the leaf-roller moths (Tortricidae), which are major pests of various fruit trees.
