The common substrate geranylgeranyl diphosphate is converted into diterpene hydrocarbon precursors via a two-step sequential cyclization and then into the bioactive phytoalexins via several oxidation steps. It has been suggested that microsomal cytochrome P-450 monooxygenases (P-450s) are involved in the downstream oxidation of the diterpene hydrocarbons leading to the phytoalexins and that a dehydrogenase is involved in momilactone biosynthesis.

OsWRKY53 was also induced in suspension-cultured rice cells by a fungal cerebroside elicitor and in rice plants by infection with the blast fungus Magnaporthe grisea. Physiological studies showed that (GlcNAc)(2) addition triggered chi expression and increased the rate of (GlcNAc)(2) concentration decline in culture supernatants of mycelia already cultivated with (GlcNAc)(2), suggesting that (GlcNAc)(2) induced the synthesis of its own uptake system. Four open reading frames (SCO0531, SCO0914, SCO2946, and SCO5232) encoding putative sugar-binding proteins of ABC transporters were found in the genome by probing the 12-bp repeat sequence required for regulation of chi transcription.

The 5' UTR was confirmed to be an internal ribosome entry site (IRES) using an insect cell lysate translation system: translation of a second cistron increased 14-fold in the presence of the 5' UTR and a cap analogue did not inhibit translation of the second cistron. Deletion analysis showed that 349 bases corresponding to nt 225-573 in the PSIV genome were necessary for internal initiation.

The CAD1 gene, which encodes a protein containing a domain with significant homology to the MACPF (membrane attach complex and perforin) domain of complement components and perforin, is likely to control plant immunity negatively and has a W-box cis-element in its promoter region. Design And Methods: Gallbladder bile from 21 male and 129 female patients with gallstones from Santiago was collected, and their FFAs were measured. The results were compared with those observed in a similar previous study performed in Niigata and Kochi Prefectures which showed the highest and lowest mortality rates, respectively, for GBC in Japan.
