Cancer stem cells drive tumor initiation, progression, and recurrence, which compromise the effectiveness of anti-tumor drugs. Here, we report that demethylzeylasteral (DML), a triterpene anti-tumor compound, suppressed tumorigenesis of liver cancer stem cells (LCSCs) by interfering with lactylation of a metabolic stress-related histone. Using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) analysis, we showed that the glycolysis metabolic pathway contributed to the anti-tumor effects of DML, and then focused on lactate downstream regulation as the molecular target.

Background: Glioblastoma in the brain is the most malignant solid tumor with a poor prognosis. Screening critical targets and exploring underlying mechanisms will be a benefit for diagnoses and treatment. IDH1 mutation (R132) was used to distinguish glioblastoma grade and predict prognosis as a significant marker.

Accumulating evidence suggests that hypoxia microenvironment and long non-coding lncRNAs (lncRNAs) exert critical roles in tumor development. Herein, we aim to develop a hypoxia-related lncRNA (HRL) model to predict the survival outcomes of patient with lower-grade glioma (LGG). The RNA-sequencing data of 505 LGG samples were acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Article Synopsis
  • Adolescents and young adults are significant in the spread of COVID-19 due to their global activities, but detailed characteristics of their infections are not well known.
  • A study of 46 young COVID-19 patients (ages 10-35) showed a mean incubation period of 6.6 days, with common symptoms being dry cough and fever; 30% were between 10-24 years old, predominantly male.
  • Findings indicated that asymptomatic patients could still transmit the virus to family members, with most patients recovering successfully and few complications arising during treatment.

We explored the relationships between lymphocyte subsets, cytokines, pulmonary inflammation index (PII) and disease evolution in patients with (corona virus disease 2019) COVID-19. A total of 123 patients with COVID-19 were divided into mild and severe groups. Lymphocyte subsets and cytokines were detected on the first day of hospital admission and lung computed tomography results were quantified by PII.

The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet has been shown to lower the risk of hypertension, but its role in the prevention of stroke remains in debate. We therefore conducted a meta-analysis to examine the association between DASH diet and incident stroke.A systematic database search in PubMed and Embase was performed to identify eligible prospective studies.
