Gene expression in individual neurons can change during development to adulthood and can have large effects on behavior. Additionally, the insulin/insulin-like signaling (IIS) pathway regulates many of the adult functions of Caenorhabditis elegans, including learning and memory, via transcriptional changes. We used the deep resolution of single-nucleus RNA sequencing to define the adult transcriptome of each neuron in wild-type and daf-2 mutants, revealing expression differences between L4 larval and adult neurons in chemoreceptors, synaptic genes, and learning/memory genes.

To address the platelet adhesion and plasma leakage issues with PEEK-HFM, a natural anticoagulant heparin was grafted onto the surface using ultraviolet irradiation. Additionally, to explore the substitutability of the heparin layer while considering cost and scalability, a heparin-like layer composed of copolymers of acrylic acid and sodium p-styrenesulfonate was also constructed on the surface of PEEK-HFM Even though the successful grafting of heparin and heparin-like layers on the PEEK-HFM surface reduced the pore parameters, improvements in surface hydrophilicity also prevented the platelet-adhesion phenomenon and improved the anticoagulant behaviour, making it a viable alternative for commercial PMP-HFMs in ECMO production.

Here, we used the model organism to investigate the impact of the IIS/FOXO pathway on age-related cognitive decline. The Insulin/IGF-1 receptor mutant exhibits a significant extension of learning and memory span with age compared to wild-type worms, an effect that is dependent on the DAF-16 transcription factor.

The study aimed to fingerprint the physical manufacturing properties of five commonly used acid sources in effervescent systems for designing the formulation and process of such systems. The hygroscopicity, texture properties, rheological torque, compressibility, tabletability, etc., were investigated to inspect 'powder direct compression (DC)' and 'wet granulation and compression' properties of citric (CA), tartaric (TA), malic (MA), fumaric (FA), and adipic acid (AA).

Recent studies suggest its role in exacerbating or mitigating diseases by influencing metabolic and signaling pathways in conditions such as tumors and ischemic organ damage. Evidence also links ferroptosis to various kidney diseases, prompting a review of its research status and potential breakthroughs in understanding and treating these conditions.

Selection signals are genotype markers generated during the process of biological evolution, and the detection of selection signals could reveal the direction of species evolution. The aim of this study was to generate a whole-genome resequencing data from Jinding duck, Shanma duck, Youxian Partridge duck, and Taiwan Brown tsaiya duck to reveal their population structure and selection signals.

Recently, gut microbiota has been implicated in the regulation of host metabolism. However, its causal role in the variation of non-HDL-c remains unclear.

Studies of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons from LOAD patients have demonstrated the existence of neuronal cell-intrinsic functional defects. Here, we searched for genetic contributions to neuronal dysfunction in LOAD using an integrative systems approach that incorporated multi-evidence-based gene mapping and network-analysis-based prioritization.

However, the preparation of silver alloy powder by PREP remains challenging. The low hardness of the mould casting silver alloy leads to the bending of the electrode rod when subjected to high-speed rotation during PREP.

Astrocytes undergo disease-specific transcriptomic changes upon brain injury. However, phenotypic changes of astrocytes and their functions remain unclear after hemorrhagic stroke. Here we reported hemorrhagic stroke induced a group of inflammatory reactive astrocytes with high expression of and , as well as inflammation-related genes , (C3), and .

While whole-worm and tissue-specific transcriptomic analyses have identified IIS targets , a higher-resolution single-cell approach is required to identify changes that confer neuron-specific improvements in the long-lived insulin receptor mutant, . To understand how behaviors that are controlled by a small number of neurons change in mutants, we used the deep resolution of single-nucleus RNA sequencing to define each neuron type's transcriptome in adult wild-type and mutants.

The crosstalk between reactive astrocytes and infiltrated immune cells plays a critical role in maintaining blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity. However, how astrocytes interact with immune cells and the effect of their interaction on BBB integrity after hemorrhagic stroke are still unclear. By performing RNA sequencing in astrocytes that were activated by interleukin-1α (IL-1α), tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), and complement component 1q (C1q) treatment, we found CCL5 was among the top upregulated genes.

Aim: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and implementation strategies of telecare consultations in post-stroke nurse-led clinics.
Background: Telecare consultations could be an alternative to conventional in-person consultations and improve continuity of care for stroke survivors following their discharge from hospital. Previous studies utilizing telecare consultations only focused on testing their clinical effectiveness on stroke survivors; the appropriateness and feasibility of adopting this new delivery modality in a real-world setting were not examined.
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, now in its third year, has had a profound impact on public health and economics all over the world. Different populations showed varied susceptibility to this virus and mortality after infection. Clinical and laboratory data revealed that the uncontrolled inflammatory response plays an important role in their poor outcome.

Over the last decade, immuno-oncologic drugs especially CD3-engaging bispecific antibodies (biAbs) are experiencing fast-paced evolution, but big challenges still exist in the clinical development of biAbs in solid tumors, especially non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this study, we choose a ROR1 × CD3 biAb in scFv-Fc format, named R11 × v9 biAb, to investigate its tumor-inhibiting role in NSCLC. Notably, the ROR1-engaging arm binds both human and mouse ROR1.
