Background/aims: Research has indicated that treatment with rosuvastatin can improve liver pathology in metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) patients and that treatment with Bifidobacterium can improve MAFLD. Therefore, the effects of Bifidobacterium, rosuvastatin, and their combination on related indices in a rat model of diet-induced MAFLD need to be investigated.

Methods: Forty rats were divided into five groups: the normal diet group (N), high-fat diet (HFD) model group (M), HFD + probiotic group (P), HFD + statin group (S), and HFD + probiotic + statin group (P-S).

, a new species of the tribe Ocimeae in family Lamiaceae, is described and illustrated. The new species is known only from the type locality, Xiaoluzhi village in Luzhijang dry-hot valley of Yimen County, central Yunnan, southwest China. It is characterized by having a procumbent habit, gracile stems and branches, relatively small leaves and flowers, and the phenology of flowering in winter.

The material basis and mechanism of Chaenomelis Fructus in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) were explored by network pharmacology, and the potential anti-RA targets of Chaenomelis Fructus were verified by molecular docking and animal experiments. The active components and targets of Chaenomelis Fructus were searched against the Traditional Chinese Medicine System Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform. GeneCards, DisGeNET, and OMIM were used to obtain RA-related targets.

Background: Mass screening and treatment (MSAT) for malaria elimination lacks an ideal diagnostic tool to allow sensitive and affordable test of the target population in the field. This study evaluated whether Capture and Ligation Probe-PCR (CLIP-PCR) could be used in a field MSAT in Laiza City, Myanmar.

Methods: On day 0, two dried blood spots were collected from each participant.

Background: Cross-border malaria in Laiza City of Myanmar seriously affected Yingjiang County of China and compromised reaching the goal of malaria elimination by 2020. Since 2017, a pilot project on 3 + 1 strategy of joint cross-border malaria prevention and control was carried out for building a malaria buffer in these border areas. Here, 3 were the three preventive lines in China where different focalized approaches of malaria elimination were applied and + 1 was a defined border area in Myanmar where the integrated measures of malaria control were adopted.

Yingjiang County, which is on the China-Myanmar border, is the main focus for malaria elimination in China. The epidemiological characteristics of malaria in Yingjiang County were analysed in a retrospective analysis. A total of 895 malaria cases were reported in Yingjiang County between 2013 and 2019.

Inflammasomes can identify endogenous danger signals as an inflammatory immune response. As the most common inflammasome, the NLR pyrin family domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is associated with the pathogenesis of different tumors. However, the function of the NLRP3 inflammasome in esophageal cancer (EC) has rarely been reported.

The increased expression of cluster of differentiation (CD)47 has been identified in a number of different tumor types and is recognized as an adverse prognostic factor that indicates an increased risk of mortality in patients. The binding of CD47 to signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα) inhibits the macrophage phagocytosis of tumor cells by triggering an inhibitory 'do not eat me' signal. This is one of the mechanisms used by tumor cells to evade immune surveillance.

This study was designed to investigate effects of pargyline on histone methylation in the promoter and enhancer regions and transcription of cytochrome P450 3A4/3A7 (CYP3A4/3A7) gene. Human primary fetal liver cells were isolated, cultured and randomly divided into several groups including control, solvent, pargyline low, middle, high dose (treated with 0.6, 1.

Objective: To understand the control status of malaria at hotspots in Yingjiang County and provide measures for malaria elimination in the China-Myanmar border areas of Yunnan Province.

Methods: A survey was made in 4 villages with indigenous malaria cases or imported cases in Nabang and Tongbiguan of Yingjiang County in Yunnan Province in June and July 2015. Peripheral blood samples were collected from the neighboring residents around patients and examined by malaria rapid diagnostic test (RDT).

A desert-grown Halimodendron halodendron ethylene-responsive element binding factor gene (HhERF2), which encodes a 245 amino acids protein containing a conserved AP2/EREBP domain, was isolated through the rapid amplification cDNA end (RACE) method. Sequence and phylogenetic analysis indicated that HhERF2 was classified into the B-2 group of ERF subfamily. Semiquantitative RT-PCR showed that HhERF2 was greatly induced by treatments with high-salt, drought and low temperature in H.

Two new asymmetric eremophilane-type sesquiterpene dimers, ligulamulienin A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the rhizomes of Ligularia muliensis. Their structures were determined based on their spectroscopic data, including IR, EI-MS, HR-electrospray ionization (ESI)-MS, 1D and 2D-NMR spectroscopy. The cytotoxicity of compounds 1 and 2 was measured in in vitro human carcinoma (MGC-803), human hepatoma (HEP-G2), and murine sarcoma (S-180) cell lines.

Objective: To study the effects of Hedysari polysaccharide (HPS) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human hepatocellular carcinoma HEP-G2 cells and its mechanism.

Methods: MTT assay, flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy were used to the effects of HPS in anti-proliferation, cell cycle arresting and apoptosis induction. Flow cytometry was also used to detect the effects detect of HPS on protein expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax.

Most human tumors produce high levels of TGF-beta1, whose autocrine and paracrine actions promote tumor cell invasiveness and metastasis. Currently, many experimental therapies that target TGFB1 have utilized antisense DNA or RNA interference (RNAi). Despite the great potential of RNAi, the selection of effective target sites and proper delivery systems for short hairpin RNA (shRNA) remains a significant issue.
