Article Synopsis
  • - A 34-year-old woman developed severe myocarditis just 8 days after receiving the ZF2001 COVID-19 vaccine, prompting further examination of her condition.
  • - Autopsy revealed serious inflammation in the heart, characterized by lymphocyte and monocyte infiltration, as well as damage to heart muscle cells.
  • - The report emphasizes the link between the RBD-subunit vaccine and potential myocarditis complications, discussing the implications of this association on patient health.

Although dysregulation of mitochondrial dynamics has been linked to cellular senescence, which contributes to advanced age-related disorders, it is unclear how Krüppel-like factor 5 (Klf5), an essential transcriptional factor of cardiovascular remodeling, mediates the link between mitochondrial dynamics and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) senescence. Here, we show that Klf5 down-regulation in VSMCs is correlated with rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), an age-related vascular disease. Mice lacking Klf5 in VSMCs exacerbate vascular senescence and progression of angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced AAA by facilitating reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation.

Lupus nephritis (LN) is a common and severe complication of systemic lupus erythematosus. Without intervention, LN may cause acute kidney injury and end-stage renal disease. This study aims to determine whether microRNA-485 (miR-485) affects renal tubular epithelial cells (RTECs) in LN mice via the TGF-β-MAPK signaling pathway by targeting RhoA.
