High expressions of nitrate use and photosynthesis-related transcripts contribute to the stronger plasticity to high nitrate for the invader relative to its native congener, which may be driven by hormones. Strong phenotypic plasticity is often considered as one of the main mechanisms underlying exotic plant invasions. However, few studies have been conducted to investigate the related molecular mechanisms.

Soil nitrogen forms are important for exotic plant invasions. However, little effort has been made to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the utilization of different N forms in co-occurring invasive and native plants. The invasive plant prefers nitrate relative to ammonium, and mainly invades nitrate-dominated environments, while it co-occurring native congener prefers ammonium.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a novel biosensing strategy that combines surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanoprobes with a microfluidic device to quickly detect pathogens like Salmonella and Neisseria.
  • The SERS nanoprobes are created by attaching specific antibodies to silica-coated nanoparticles, which enhance Raman signals for accurate identification of bacteria at low concentrations, even down to a single bacterium.
  • This method is faster and more sensitive than traditional ELISA tests, allowing for a total assay time of under 2 hours while using significantly less antibody.

Background: To study on expressions and clinical significances of CD133 protein and CD133 mRNA in primary lesion of gastric adenocarcinoma (GC).

Methods: Expressions of CD133 protein by immunostaining (99 cases) and CD133 mRNA by semi-quantitative RT-PCR (31 cases) were detected in primary lesion and in noncancerous gastric mucosa tissue (NCGT). Correlations of CD133 protein expression with clinicopathological parameters and post-operative survival were analyzed.

Background: Oridonin, a tetracycline diterpenoid compound, has the potential antitumor activities. Here, we evaluate the antitumor activity and action mechanisms of oridonin in colorectal cancer.

Methods: Effects of oridonin on cell proliferation were determined by using a CCK-8 Kit.

To investigate the protective effects of recombinant human tumor necrosis factor receptor II: IgG Fc fusion protein (rhu TNFR: Fc) against the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced intestinal damage of rats and its underlying mechanism. SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group, rhuTNFR: Fc group, LPS group and rhu TNFR: Fc + LPS group. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) was continuously monitored and the mortality rates were assessed.

Objectives: To block the synthesis of ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2) in myocardial cells by RNA interference and to investigate its biological impact on ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rat myocardial cells.

Methods: Rat myocardial cells were isolated and cultured for an I/R model in vitro. RNA interference technique was used to block the synthesis of RyR2 in myocardial cells.
