Background: The aim of the study was to evaluate the feasibility of the opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) technique with dexmedetomidine, esketamine, and lidocaine among patients diagnosed with benign breast mass and scheduled for lumpectomy.
Methods: We enrolled 80 female patients who were aged from 18 to 60 years, graded with American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II, diagnosed with benign breast mass, and scheduled for lumpectomy. These patients were randomly treated with OFA or opioid-based anesthesia (OBA).
Objective: Labor is a complex process and labor pain presents challenges for analgesia. Epidural analgesia (EA) has a well-known analgesic effect and is commonly used during labor. Independent measurements of stem sap flow in stems of Calligonum mongolicum and environmental variables using commercial sap flow gauges and a micrometeorological monitoring system, respectively, were made to simulate the variation of sap flow density in the middle range of Hexi Corridor, Northwest China during June to September, 2014. The results showed that the diurnal process of sap flow density in C. mongolicum showed a broad unimodal change, and the maximum sap flow density reached about 30 minutes after the maximum of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) , while about 120 minutes before the maximum of temperature and vapor pressure deficit (VPD).

Background And Objectives: Spinal anesthesia-associated maternal hypotension in Cesarean delivery is the most frequent and troublesome complication, posing serious risks to mothers and compromising neonatal well-being. The effective volume of intravenous crystalloid as the preventive strategy in this context has not been estimated.
Methods: Eighty-five parturients with ASA physical status I/II undergoing elective Cesarean delivery were screened and 67 eligible women were assigned to receive pre-spinal crystalloid loading.
In our previous study, peripheral inflammatory stimulation evoked production of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in the spinal cord and found spinal microglia are the major source of MIF in this context. Given the contribution of the activated-microglia to the inflammatory neuropathy plus the role for upregulated COX 2 expression and PGE(2) production in the severity of clinical manifestations of these neuroinflammatory conditions, we herein tested the hypothesis that in vitro MIF stimulation to spinal microglia could result in an activation of COX 2-PGE(2) system by MIF-CD74 interaction. We found MIF played roles in evoking COX 2 mRNA and protein expression in a dose-dependent manner correspondingly in changes in PGE(2) level in the cultured rat microglia, but these changes could be inhibited by genetic deletion of CD74.

Previous work has confirmed that spinal macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) contributes to the pathogenesis of formalin-induced inflammatory hyperalgesia, but the role for MIF in neuropathic pain is still not well defined.
Methods: After approval by the Ethical Committee of Animal Use and Care, the sciatic chronic constriction nerve injury-induced rodent model of neuropathic pain was built.
