The global incidence of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has risen sharply. This condition is strongly associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but how MAFLD affects the development and progression of CVD, particularly concerning vascular calcification, remains unclear. Herein, extracellular vesicles (EVs) are identified from steatotic hepatocytes as a trigger that accelerated the progression of both vascular intimal and medial calcification.

Background: Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) results from serious complications of intrauterine surgery or infection and mostly remains incurable. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have emerged as a potential new approach for the treatment of IUA; however, their impact is not fully understood. Here, we performed a meta-analysis summarizing the effects of sEVs on IUA in preclinical rodent models.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is one of the most common gynecological cancers, and its risk factors include obesity and metabolic, genetic, and other factors. Recently, the circadian rhythm has also been shown to be associated with EC, as the severity of EC was found to be related to night work and rhythm disorders. Therefore, circadian rhythm disorders (CRDs) may be one of the metabolic diseases underlying EC.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, posing a global threat to human healthcare, and current approved treatment strategies do not produce satisfactory outcomes. Here, nanobubbles (NBs) were prepared that carried Immune Check Inhibitors (ICIs), PD-L1 antibody (PD-L1 Ab) and sonodynamic agent CHLORIN E6 (Ce); the anti-cancer properties of these NBs were analyzed from the point of view of immune and sonodynamic therapies. The PD-L1 Ab/Ce-NBs could inhibit tumor growth through regulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, apoptosis, and most importantly, the function of associated immunocytes, including natural killer cells and lymphocytes.

  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a reproductive disorder affecting women of reproductive age, characterized by symptoms like hormonal imbalances, irregular menstruation, and metabolic issues such as insulin resistance and obesity.
  • The exact causes of PCOS are still not well understood, but recent research suggests that changes in circadian rhythms may trigger the condition through oxidative stress and inflammation.
  • Exosomes, tiny vesicles that facilitate cell communication, may play a significant role in PCOS by transporting molecular signals, indicating that their interaction with circadian rhythms could be a key factor in the syndrome's development and potential treatment strategies.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) is an endometrial fibrosis disease caused by repeated operations of the uterus and is a common cause of female infertility. In recent years, treatment using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has been proposed by many researchers and is now widely used in clinics because of the low immunogenicity of MSCs. It is believed that allogeneic MSCs can be used to treat IUA because MSCs express only low levels of MHC class I molecules and no MHC class II or co-stimulatory molecules.

Köppen-Geiger climate classification (KGC) is accepted and applied worldwide. The climatic parameters utilised in KGC, however, cannot indicate human thermal comfort (HTC) conditions or air humidity (AH) conditions directly, because they are originally based on climatic effects on vegetation, instead of that on human body directly. In addition, HTC is driven by meteorological parameters together.

Background: Previous studies have indicated that the cognitive deficits in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) may be due to topological deteriorations of the brain network. However, whether the selection of a specific frequency band could impact the topological properties is still not clear. Our hypothesis is that the topological properties of AD patients are also frequency-specific.

The leaching behavior of nitrogen was studied in single rice paddy production ecosystems in Tsukuba, Japan after 75 years of consistent fertilization regimes (no fertilizer, ammonium sulfate, a combination of composted rice straw with soybean cake, and fresh clover). During the 75-year period, management was unchanged with respect to rice planting density, irrigation, and net N fertilization for each field to which an N-source was added. Percolation water was collected, from May 2001 to April 2002, using porous suction cups installed in the fields at depths of 15, 40, and 60 cm.

In animals, the combination of oxidative liver damage and inhibited hepatocyte proliferation increases the numbers of hepatic progenitors (oval cells). We studied different murine models of fatty liver disease and patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or alcoholic liver disease to determine whether oval cells increase in fatty livers and to clarify the mechanisms for this response. To varying degrees, all mouse models exhibit excessive hepatic mitochondrial production of H(2)O(2), a known inducer of cell-cycle inhibitors.
