Cryptorchidism is a common cause of male infertility, often necessitating microdissection testicular sperm extraction (m-TESE) for sperm retrieval post-surgery. However, uncertainties persist regarding m-TESE outcomes and influencing factors following cryptorchidism surgery. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate sperm retrieval rates (SRR) among patients undergoing m-TESE after cryptorchidism surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • Wu et al. developed a modified radiographic classification system for congenital thumb duplications (CTD), showing reliable results among different evaluators, but previous studies had not focused specifically on type C3 CTD with bone attachment at the metacarpal level.
  • The aim of the study was to assess the radiographic features of type C3 CTD, define its various anatomical subtypes, and suggest a new categorization to guide surgical approaches based on radiographic anatomy.
  • The analysis involved 215 patients with type C3 CTD, leading to a new four-type classification system based on thumb joint alignment and hypertrophic epiphysis, successfully categorizing all affected thumbs and providing insights into frequency and demographics of the condition.

Wearing titanium particle-induced osteoclastogenesis, accompanied by peri-implant osteolysis, is the main cause of long-term failure of hip prosthesis. Currently, medications used for the prevention and treatment of peri-implant osteolysis show serious side effects. Therefore, development for more effective new drugs with less side effects is extremely urgent.

Layered hexagonal Ni(OH) nanoflakes have been successfully fabricated on the surface of reduce graphite oxide (rGO) via nickel induced in situ growth in this study. The layers number and size of Ni(OH) nanoflakes could be controlled by adjusting the concentration of Ni precursors with nickel as active site on rGO surface. In the three electrode systems, the composite showed a relatively high specific capacitance achieved 1012.
