Background: Complement activation is recognized as an important factor in the progression of liver damage caused by acetaminophen (APAP). However, the role of the complement inhibitor C2-FH in APAP-induced liver injury remains unclear.

Aim: To explore C2-FH in protecting against APAP-induced liver injury by inhibiting complement activation.

Article Synopsis
  • The COVID-19 pandemic led colleges to adopt online learning, prompting a study using the UTAUT2 model to assess factors influencing students' willingness to continue online education.
  • Data was gathered from undergraduates in East China through questionnaires to explore the impacts of various constructs like effort expectancy, social influence, and self-efficacy on behavioral intention to engage in e-learning.
  • Findings revealed that self-efficacy, metacognition, and habits significantly influence students' behavioral intentions, leading to recommendations for improving online learning experiences through better social support, content design, and technology usability.

Shading can effectively reduce photoinhibition and improve the quality of tea. Lignin is one of the most important secondary metabolites that play vital functions in plant growth and development. However, little is known about the relationship between shading and xylogenesis in tea plant.

Tea plant, an economically important crop, is used in producing tea, which is a non-alcoholic beverage. Lignin, the second most abundant component of the cell wall, reduces the tenderness of tea leaves and affects tea quality. Caffeoyl-coenzyme A O-methyltransferase (CCoAOMT) involved in lignin biosynthesis affects the efficiency of lignin synthesis and lignin composition.

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanism of trichloroethylene (TCE) cardiac developmental toxicity on zebrafish embryos and to try to provide experimental data for related intervention.

Methods: Zebrafish embryos were purchased from the National Zebrafish Resource Center. The embryos were divided into DMSO(control group), DMSO+CHIR, DMSO+XAV, TCE, TCE+CHIR and TCE+XAV groups(TCE at the concentration of 1, 10 and 100 ppb, with the DMSO as control; DMSO: Dimethyl suldoxide; CHIR: CHIR-99021, Wnt agonist; XAV: XAV-939, Wnt antagonist), 60 embryos per group.

Endogenous phytohormones auxin (indole-3-acetic acid [IAA]), abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellin (GA), and brassinosteroid (BR) play a role in responses to drought stress in higher plants. Tea plant is one of the major economic corps worldwide. The tender shoots of tea plants are the main source for tea production.

Objective: To investigate the effects of the extract from Marsdensia tenacissima on proliferation and apoptosis of human hematologic neoplasm cell line cells.

Methods: Raji, NB4 and K562 cells were treated in vitro with different concentrations of the extract from Marsdensia tenacissima, including different ethanol elution components and C21 steroidal saponin monomer compounds, for different periods. Tumor cell proliferation was measured by MTT colorimetric assay and its apoptosis was determined by the flow cytometry (FCM).

Article Synopsis
  • A method was developed to create a recombinant adenovirus containing the mouse IFN-gamma gene using homologous recombination in E. coli, aimed at improving gene therapy for liver fibrosis.
  • The process involved amplifying the mIFN-gamma gene through PCR, then cloning it into a vector and confirming its integrity using sequencing and various techniques, including Western blot and PCR.
  • The created adenovirus can be propagated in a 293 cell line and holds potential as a new therapeutic approach for treating liver fibrosis.
