This study was designed to explore the key impact of Proteinase K (PK) on every step of anaerobic co-digestion. The results of step-by-step experiments indicated that PK promoted the hydrolysis of biodegradable plastic by initiating self-hydrolysis reactions, directly promoting the hydrolysis step of anaerobic co-digestion. Subsequently, PK indirectly promoted the acidogenesis and acetogenesis steps by impacting the proliferation of acid-producing bacteria.

Objectives: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) subdivides into Crohn disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), and is characterized by unpredictable periods of inflammation and results in significant patient suffering and even death. Conventional diagnostic methods, for example, colonoscopy, computed tomography, or magnetic resonance imaging, have limitations such as invasiveness, patient discomfort, and limited sensitivity and accuracy. Therefore, we propose ultrasound molecular imaging (USMI) to detect and characterize IBD.

Macrophage plays a crucial role in promoting perfusion recovery and revascularization after ischemia through anti-inflammatory polarization, a process essential for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Mitochondrial dynamics, particularly regulated by the fission protein DRP1, are closely linked to macrophage metabolism and inflammation. However, the role of DRP1 in reparative neovascularization remains unexplored.

J-aggregates show great promise in phototherapy, but are limited to specific molecular skeletons and poor molecular self-assembly controllability. Herein, we report a twisted-planar molecular strategy with sonication-induced J-aggregation to develop donor-acceptor (D-A) type J-aggregates for phototherapy. With propeller aggregation-induced emission (AIE) moieties as the twisted subunits and thiophene as the planar π-bridge, the optimal twisted-planar π-interaction in MTSIC induces appropriate slip angle and J-aggregates formation, redshifting the absorption from 624 nm to 790 nm.
