Validation of the Italian spine youth quality of life (ISYQOL) in Korean population.

We aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the adapted Korean version of the Italian Spine Youth Quality of Life (ISYQOL) questionnaire. Translation/retranslation of the English version of ISYQOL was conducted, and all steps of the cross-cultural adaptation process were performed. The Korean version of the ISYQOL and the previously validated Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22) questionnaire were mailed to 120 consecutive idiopathic scoliosis patients wearing brace.

A meta-analysis of gait in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

This study aimed to compare the results of gait analysis of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients and healthy subjects through a meta-analysis of the existing research. The Medline (via PubMed), Cochrane, Scopus, and Embase databases were searched for studies that evaluated the findings of AIS, including spatiotemporal parameters (walking speed, step length, cadence, and stance phase duration), segmental kinematics (frontal, sagittal, and transverse pelvic motion), and electromyographic variables (electrical activity of the quadratus lumborum, erector spinae, and gluteus medius), and were published between January 2000 and May 2020. Two authors extracted the data independently, and any discrepancies regarding the eligibility of retrieved studies were resolved by a consensus.

Comparison of Precision between Optical and Electromagnetic Navigation Systems in Total Knee Arthroplasty.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the precision of optical and electromagnetic navigation systems in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 60 patients who underwent TKA using an optical navigation system and 60 patients who underwent TKA using an electromagnetic navigation system from June 2010 to March 2012. The mechanical axis that was measured on preoperative radiographs and by the intraoperative navigation systems were compared between the groups.

Total knee arthroplasty in a patient with an ankylosing knee after previous patellectomy.

Patellectomized patients may have less satisfactory clinical outcomes following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) due to a decreased extensor mechanism efficiency and potential instability. Furthermore, the existing literature does not provide concrete guidance on the expected results of TKA or the type of implant that should be used in patellectomized patients. We present a case of a patient with an ankylosing knee who had undergone patellectomy due to gunshot injury 45 years ago and was treated with primary TKA using a posterior stabilized prosthesis at our institution.

Radiographic measurement reliability of lumbar lordosis in ankylosing spondylitis.

Introduction: Intraobserver and interobserver reliabilities of the several different methods to measure lumbar lordosis have been reported. However, it has not been studied sofar in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS).

Materials And Methods: We evaluated the inter and intraobserver reliabilities of six specific measures of global lumbar lordosis in patients with AS.

Association between estrogen receptor gene polymorphism and back pain intensity in female patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis.

Objective: To examine the possible association of estrogen receptor α (ERα) polymorphisms and pain intensity in symptomatic female degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) patients.

Comparison of mobile-bearing and fixed-bearing designs in high flexion total knee arthroplasty: using a navigation system.

Purpose: We compared and analyzed the short term results of high flexion total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with mobile-bearing and fixed bearing designs.

Materials And Methods: We studied 32 patients that had undergone TKA with LPS-Flex Mobile and 34 patients with LPS-Flex Fixed using an electromagnetic navigation system between January 2010 and June 2010, and were followed up for at least 1 year.

Results: Knee Society Functional Score (KSFS) and Knee Society Knee Score (KSKS) of the mobile-bearing group were 94.
