Rhizoma coptidis, a Chinese herbal medicine widely used to treat various bacterial infections, has the potential to develop antibiotic substitutes to overcome the drug resistance of Vibrio alginolyticus. To study the inhibitory effect of R. coptidis on V.

Methods: 80 cases of CT images were collected with patients aged 10-80 years old.
Objective: Three-dimensional printing may play an important role in patients' education. The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of personalized 3D printed models for increasing patient understanding of their medical condition and surgical plan.
Methods: Forty-five patients with degenerative lumbar diseases were randomized by block design into three groups: educational program presented by CT & MRI imaging (care-as-usual), 3D reconstructions, or personalized 3D printed models.
Skin reaction or dermatological toxicities induced by immunotherapy is common. It usually manifests skin rash or erythema and can be cured by skin lotion or steroid. Nivolumab, a human IgG4 programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor, blocks T cells activation preventing signal and allows the immune system to clear cancer cells.

Whether this gene plays a role in invasion and metastasis of breast cancer is unknown.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of CHD1L in patients with invasive ductal carcinoma and normal mammary glands.

The total RNA was extracted from ginseng leaves of Panax ginseng. The Cu/Zn-SOD gene was amplified via RT-PCR and the pET-28(a)-Cu/Zn-SOD expression vector was constructed. The pET-28 (a)-Cu/Zn-SOD recombinant plasmid was transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) competent cells and was induced by IPTG in order to select optimal induction of expression conditions.

Methods: In this three-center open-label study from November 2011 to May 2013, we randomly assigned 189 patients with advanced Child-Pugh class B or C HCC patients into two groups, one group with 95 patient to receive sorafenib (400 mg a time, twice a day) and the other group with 94 patients to receive best supportive care. The primary end points were progression-free survival and overall survival.
The efficiency of cloning by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) has remained low. In most cloned embryos, epigenetic reprogramming is incomplete, and usually the genome is hypermethylated. The DNA methylation inhibitor 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC) could improve the developmental competence of cow, pig, cat and human SCNT embryos in previous studies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTelomeres are repeated GC rich sequences at the end of chromosomes, and shorten with each cell division due to DNA end replication problem. Previously, reprogrammed somatic cells of cloned animals display variable telomere elongation. However, it was reported that the cloned animals including Dolly do not reset telomeres and show premature aging.
