Zinc is essential for normal growth and reproduction in all animals and plays a crucial role in many biological processes. The present study aimed to compare the intervention effects of zinc on intestinal health in a high lipid diet or high starch diet. Seven iso-nitrogenous (∼520 g kg) diets were formulated containing a positive control diet (115 g kg lipid + 115 g kg starch + 20 mg kg Zn), three high starch diets (HS, 166 g kg starch) and three high lipid diets (HL, 182 g kg lipid), with 0 (HS-LZn, HL-LZn), 20 (HS-MZn, HL-MZn) and 150 (HS-HZn, HL-HZn) mg kg Zn being supplemented.

A Pd-catalyzed asymmetric higher-order dipolar cycloaddition between allenyl carbonates and azadienes is achieved by exploiting novel alkylidene-π-allyl-Pd dipoles. This research provides a modular platform for the synthesis of challenging chiral endocyclic allenes bearing a medium-sized heterocyclic motif and a centrally chiral stereocenter in good yields with high enantio- and diastereoselectivities (29 examples, up to 97% yield, 97:3 er and >19:1 dr). Experimental and computational studies elucidate the possible reaction mechanism and the observed stereochemical results.

This study has focused on adjusting sensing environment from basic to neutral pH and improve sensing performance by doping electrodeposited gold (Au) with metal oxide for nonenzymatic glucose measurements in forming a Schottky interface for superior glucose sensing with detailed analysis for the sensing mechanism. The prepared sensor also holds the ability to measure pH with the identical electrospun metal oxide-electrodeposited Au, which composed a dual sensor (glucose and pH sensor) through applying chronoamperometry and open circuit potential methods. The rhodium oxide nanocoral structure was fabricated with an electrospinning precursor solution, followed by a calcination process, and it was mixed with electrodeposited nanocoral gold to form the Schottky interface by constructing a p-n type heterogeneous junction for improved sensitivity in glucose detection.

Background: Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) is the dysfunction of group of muscles and bones in the joint area, the main symptoms of TMD are the pain of the chewing muscles and (or) the temporomandibular joints, mandibular movement disorders and joint noise. This study was designed to explore the therapeutic effects following Individual Musculoskeletally Stable (IMS) position stabilization splint therapy for TMD patients using Fricton index, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and surface-Electromyogram (sEMG).

Methods: In this study, we enrolled 31 TMD patients (ranging from 18 to 26 years old, including 7 males and 24 females), first Fricton index was used to evaluate the clinical curative effect of TMD with the treatment of IMS stabilization splint; then CBCT was used to observe the TMJ condylar position changes of TMD before and after the treatment of IMS stabilization splint; finally sEMG was used to observe the changes of electromyography of anterior temporalis (AT) and masseter muscles (MM) of TMD before and after the treatment of IMS stabilization splint.

Inherently chiral calixarenes have garnered significant attention due to their distinctive properties, yet the development of efficient catalytic asymmetric synthesis methods remains a critical challenge. Herein, we report the asymmetric synthesis of calix[4]arenes featuring inherent or both inherent and axial chirality via a cobalt-catalyzed C-H activation/annulation strategy in high yield with excellent enantio- and diastereoselectivity (up to >99 % ee and >20 : 1 dr). Electrooxidation was also suitable for this transformation to obviate the sacrificial metal oxidants, underscoring the environmentally friendly potential of this approach.
