Quality control procedures play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and consistency of data generated in mass spectrometry-based proteomics laboratories. Near-field enhancement of light by dipole excitations in plasmonic nanoparticles plays an important role in many applications of optical nanotechnology, including solar cells, plasmonic sensors, and nonlinear optical devices. Recently, we have shown that a seemingly weak octupole resonance in a pair of metal nanospheres can provide a higher near-field enhancement than the dipole resonance. Being motivated by this discovery, we now design a plasmonic nanodisc trimer that supports hybridized higher-order excitations and simultaneously suppresses the dipole excitation.

The crystal structure uniformity is numerically estimated as the standard deviation of the crystal space quantizer 〈G〉. This criterion has been applied to explore the uniformity of ionic sublattices in 21465 crystal structures of inorganic ionic compounds. In our recent research, we have effectively demonstrated the feasibility of classifying magnetic resonance images (MRI) of glial tumors into four histological types utilizing standardized volume of interest (VOI), radiomics and machine learning. This research aims to determine the reproducibility of our approach when the locations of VOI are changed. We were able to demonstrate high reproducibility of ML results when the same feature selection methodology was employed across different VOIs.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of citrate-stabilized sols of cerium oxide nanoparticles at different concentrations via different microbiological methods and to compare the effect with the peroxidase activity of nanoceria for the subsequent development of a regeneration-stimulating medical and/or veterinary wound-healing product providing new types of antimicrobial action. The object of this study was cerium oxide nanoparticles synthesized from aqueous solutions of cerium (III) nitrate hexahydrate and citric acid (the size of the nanoparticles was 3-5 nm, and their aggregates were 60-130 nm).
