Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated knowledge and attitudes about hair dye use and its risks in the Northern Emirates, particularly Ras Al Khaimah.
  • A questionnaire was administered to 405 individuals, with an 82.20% response rate, revealing that over half used natural hair dyes primarily to cover gray hair, and many had never done an allergy test before using them.
  • Significant sociodemographic factors like sex, age, and occupation influenced hair dye usage, indicating a need for educational programs to promote safe practices and awareness of potential adverse effects.

Neonatal hypoglycemia (NH) is a common abnormality in newborns, posing significant morbidity risks. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are vital to mitigate brain damage and enhance outcomes. Congenital hyperinsulinemia (CHI) is a leading cause of recurrent hypoglycemia in infants, often stemming from genetic mutations such as in the  gene, manifesting as hyperinsulinism-hyperammonemia syndrome (HI/HA).

Article Synopsis
  • Using cognitive aids like checklists can greatly enhance patient care quality, leading to fewer complications and deaths.
  • A study was conducted on emergency cesarean sections, comparing a baseline assessment of 65 procedures to a post-intervention phase after educating staff on a 22-step checklist.
  • Results showed an increase in compliance from 78.80% to 92.48%, indicating that the training helped staff recognize the importance of each checklist item and improve overall patient care practices.

The Southern Ocean sequesters atmospheric CO through biological pumps, though its driving factors are debated. Modern productivity is regulated by natural iron fertilization from micronutrient influx through dust, regeneration, and Antarctic glaciers and sea ice melting (ice melt). The productivity along the eastern Antarctic continental margin was low during the last glacial period and gradually increased through the deglacial to Late Holocene, marked by distinct productivity peaks.

Article Synopsis
  • * For a long time, there were no approved medications for treating NASH, but recent FDA approval of a drug called Rezdiffra (Resmetirom) may provide new treatment options, while lifestyle changes remain crucial for managing the disease.
  • * The review discusses how NASH affects liver drug metabolism and transport due to changes in certain liver transporters and enzymes, highlighting the significance of understanding these interactions for better treatment approaches.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) emerged as a major health care concern in modern society, primarily due to lifestyle changes and dietary habits. Obesity-induced insulin resistance is considered as the major pathogenic factor in T2DM. In this study, we investigated the effect of vindoline, an indole alkaloid of on insulin resistance (IR), oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in dexamethasone (IR inducer)-induced dysfunctional 3T3-L1 adipocytes and high-glucose-induced insulin-resistant L6-myoblast cells.

Biphasic squamoid alveolar renal cell carcinoma (BSARCC) is a newly emerging distinct and rare morphologic variant of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Morphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular data have shown that BSARCC is closely related to papillary RCC type 1. We report a case of Biphasic squamoid alveolar renal cell carcinoma with a rare presentation as cutaneous metastases.

The field of nanotechnology has overgrown over the past few years and has even ventured into the field of medicine. The aim of the present study is to develop a novel allicin functionalized locust bean gum nanoparticle using the nanoprecipitation technique. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

The present study deals with the preparation of stable Curcumin incorporated Titaniumdioxide Nanoparticles (CTNPs) by coprecipitation method for improving the bioavailability of curcumin and site specific drug delivery. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by UV visible spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, DLS, SEM and EDX. The characterization studies showed the interaction of curcumin to titanium dioxide nanoparticles.

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is the most common primary malignancy of the salivary glands. Central mucoepidermoid carcinomas are extremely rare in the jaws. Here we report a case of a 19-year-old central mucoepidermoid carcinoma in a young female patient which was asymptomatic throughout her history and which radiographically simulated a fibro-osseous lesion; both features misled the clinical diagnosis.
