Genetic alterations to serine-threonine kinase 11 () have been implicated in Peutz-Jeghers syndrome and tumorigenesis. Further exploration of the context-specific roles of liver kinase B1 (LKB1; encoded by ) observed that it regulates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and AMPK-related kinases. Given that both migration and proliferation are enhanced with the loss of LKB1 activity combined with the prevalence of genetic alterations in cancer biopsies, LKB1 was marked as a tumor suppressor.

Late-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) involves the widespread dissemination of malignant disease throughout the peritoneal cavity, often accompanied by ascites. EOC metastasis relies on the formation of multicellular aggregates, called spheroids. Liver Kinase B1 (LKB1), encoded by Serine-Threonine Kinase 11 (STK11), is a master kinase that regulates cell migration, polarity, proliferation, and metabolism through downstream adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and AMPK-related kinase signalling. Since genetic screens identified STK11 mutations in Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome, STK11 mutants have been implicated in tumourigenesis labelling it as a tumour suppressor. In support of this, several compounds reduce tumour burden through upregulating LKB1 signalling, and LKB1-AMPK agonists are cytotoxic to tumour cells.

Background And Objectives: Precise localization of the dentatorubrothalamic (DRT) tract can facilitate anatomic targeting in MRI-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) thalamotomy and thalamic deep brain stimulation for tremor. The anatomic segment of DRT fibers adjacent to the ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus (VIM), referred to as the rubral wing (RW), may be directly visualized on the fast gray matter acquisition T1 inversion recovery. Eukaryotic elongation factor 1A1 (EEF1A1) is canonically involved in protein synthesis but also has noncanonical functions in diverse cellular processes. Purpose: To explore efficient encoding schemes for quantitative magnetization transfer (qMT) imaging with few constraints on model parameters.

Theory And Methods: We combine two recently proposed models in a Bloch-McConnell equation: the dynamics of the free spin pool are confined to the hybrid state, and the dynamics of the semi-solid spin pool are described by the generalized Bloch model. We numerically optimize the flip angles and durations of a train of radio frequency pulses to enhance the encoding of three qMT parameters while accounting for all eight parameters of the two-pool model.
