This was a real world study attempting to obtain evidence on the learning experience; specifically, achievement of level of competency as well as personal experiences of the integration of skills learned into practice.

Low-Stakes, Growth-Oriented Testing in Large-Enrollment General Chemistry 1: Formulation, Implementation, and Statistical Analysis.

We formulate an alternative to high-stakes examinations that is designed to help students grow, and we describe its implementation in a large-enrollment General Chemistry 1 class. In our alternative grading approach, students complete weekly assessments. Each assessment has four items that are aligned to explicit learning objectives and a level in Marzano's taxonomy, , , , and , which can be used by students and instructors to gauge the progression of student learning.

DeepEMC-T mapping: Deep learning-enabled T mapping based on echo modulation curve modeling.

Purpose: Echo modulation curve (EMC) modeling enables accurate quantification of T relaxation times in multi-echo spin-echo (MESE) imaging. The standard EMC-T mapping framework, however, requires sufficient echoes and cumbersome pixel-wise dictionary-matching steps. This work proposes a deep learning version of EMC-T mapping, called DeepEMC-T mapping, to efficiently estimate accurate T maps from fewer echoes.

Purpose: Ethiopia is the second most populous country in sub-Saharan Africa. While Ethiopia's health care system includes primary health centres, general, and specialised hospitals, allied health care like speech-language pathology was not available until 2003. This article was written with the aim of sharing the experience of establishing speech-language pathology as a profession and the first speech-language pathology training program in Ethiopia.

Dormancy in cancer is a clinical state in which residual disease remains undetectable for a prolonged duration. At a cellular level, rare cancer cells cease proliferation and survive chemotherapy and disseminate disease. We created a suspension culture model of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) dormancy and devised a novel CRISPR screening approach to identify survival genes in this context.

Comparison of Dentatorubrothalamic Tractography Methods Based on the Anatomy of the Rubral Wing.

Background And Objectives: Precise localization of the dentatorubrothalamic (DRT) tract can facilitate anatomic targeting in MRI-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) thalamotomy and thalamic deep brain stimulation for tremor. The anatomic segment of DRT fibers adjacent to the ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus (VIM), referred to as the rubral wing (RW), may be directly visualized on the fast gray matter acquisition T1 inversion recovery. We compared reproducibility, lesion overlap, and clinical outcomes when reconstructing the DRT tract using a novel anatomically defined RW region of interest, DRT-RW, to an existing tractography method based on the posterior subthalamic area region of interest (DRT-PSA).

Elongation factor 1A1 regulates metabolic substrate preference in mammalian cells.

Eukaryotic elongation factor 1A1 (EEF1A1) is canonically involved in protein synthesis but also has noncanonical functions in diverse cellular processes. Previously, we identified EEF1A1 as a mediator of lipotoxicity and demonstrated that chemical inhibition of EEF1A1 activity reduced mouse liver lipid accumulation. These findings suggested a link between EEF1A1 and metabolism.

Background: Cutaneous (CL) and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis (MCL) are parasitic diseases caused by parasites of the genus leishmania leading to stigma caused by disfigurations. This study aimed to systematically review the dimensions, measurement methods, implications, and potential interventions done to reduce the CL- and MCL- associated stigma, synthesising the current evidence according to an accepted stigma framework.

Use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) often relies on the involvement of AAC service providers; however little is known about how AAC services are delivered across Canada. This study aimed to explore AAC service provision and factors influencing use of AAC from the perspectives of service providers across Canada who are involved in providing and/or supporting use of AAC systems. The 22 participants from nine (of the 10) provinces participated in online focus groups.

Rapid quantitative magnetization transfer imaging: Utilizing the hybrid state and the generalized Bloch model.

Purpose: To explore efficient encoding schemes for quantitative magnetization transfer (qMT) imaging with few constraints on model parameters.

Theory And Methods: We combine two recently proposed models in a Bloch-McConnell equation: the dynamics of the free spin pool are confined to the hybrid state, and the dynamics of the semi-solid spin pool are described by the generalized Bloch model. We numerically optimize the flip angles and durations of a train of radio frequency pulses to enhance the encoding of three qMT parameters while accounting for all eight parameters of the two-pool model.

The United Nations Council Assembly recognized sickle cell disease (SCD) as a global public health problem due to its increasing burden, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. To raise awareness, a resolution was adopted, designating June 19th as SCD awareness day. However, the impact of this awareness day on online health information seeking behaviour (OHISB) in African countries is not well understood, especially in Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda where SCD prevalence is high.

Musculoskeletal disorders and pain in agricultural workers in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Agricultural workers constitute two-thirds of the population of Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) and are at increased risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) due to high-risk activities. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to synthesise the prevalence, predictors, and outcomes of musculoskeletal pain amongst agricultural workers to identify priority areas for prevention and development of early interventions. This systematic review and meta-analysis included Studies published from the inception of global electronic databases until 30 September 2022 were included.

Does virtual reality in the preoperative setting for colorectal cancer surgery improve patient understanding? A randomized pilot study.

Background: Virtual reality (VR) enhanced radiology could help improve communication with colorectal cancer patients and therefore increase understanding in the perioperative setting. The objective of this pilot trial is to assess the feasibility of conducting a randomized control trial in terms of recruitment, use and acceptability of the VR technology and validity of data collection methods.

Methods: A prospective, single-centre randomized control trial was conducted at St John of God Midland Hospital in Western Australia from November to December 2021.
