Gemcitabine is one of the most widely used chemotherapy drugs for advanced malignant tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer. However, the clinical efficacy of gemcitabine is limited due to drug resistance. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of p21 in gemcitabine-resistant A549 (A549/G) lung cancer cells.

The long intergenic non-coding RNA SNHG7 has been reported to be abnormally expressed in many types of cancer, the results remain controversial. In this study, a meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the clinicopathologic and prognostic value of SNHG7 in cancers. Electronic databases of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Embase were used to search relevant studies.

The present study investigated whether the autophagy inhibitor chloroquine (CQ) can improve the sensitivity of the A549 lung cancer cell line to epirubicin (EPI). The Cell Counting Kit 8 (CCK8) assay was used to determine the EPI IC in A549 cells treated for 72 h. A549 cells were treated with Western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression level of the autophagy-associated protein, microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 β (LC3B), and apoptosis-associated proteins such as cleaved caspase-9 and cleaved caspase-3.

Purpose: To establish a gemcitabine-resistant lung adenocarcinoma cell line, A549/G+, and to screen the differences of miRNA expression in exosomes from A549 and A549/G+ cells.

Methods: A549 cells were exposed in gemcitabine until they were resistant to gemcitabine, and extracted exosomes from A549 and A549/G+. The RNAs from exosomes were subjected to miRNA expression microarray experiments.

Background: LncRNAs play an essential role in a variety of diseases. Zinc finger antisense 1 (ZFAS1), a newly identified lncRNA, is a transcript antisense to the 5' end of the gene Znfx1. The purpose of this study was to aim to compare the levels of ZFAS1 between ischemic stroke (IS) and healthy control subjects and explore its potential role as a noninvasive biomarker in the diagnosis of IS.

Recent studies have showed that the transforming acidic coiled coil 3 (TACC3), was aberrantly up-regulated in various solid tumors and was reported to be correlated with unfavorable prognosis in cancer patients. This study aimed to examine the relationship between TACC3 and relevant clinical outcomes. Pubmed, Web of Science, Embase and Cochrane Library were systematically searched to obtain all eligible articles.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer type and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, it is urgently needed to discover a new marker for the progress of CRC. Many long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to be abnormally expressed in CRC, and may be feasible as effective biomarkers and prognostic factors. The aim of this study was to identify the prognostic value of various lncRNAs in CRC.

The polymorphism of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene Ser447Ter (S447X) has long been linked to hypertension and blood pressure variation, but the established data remained controversial. To better elucidate this inconsistency, a meta-analysis was conducted. We comprehensively searched electronic databases, including Pubmed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Web of Science, for all literatures with the last update on February 2016.
