Leydig cells (LCs) injury is often irreversible upon discovery; hence, early identification of risk factors for injury is crucial. The ubiquitous plasticizer di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) in the environment has been shown to potentially cause damage to LCs. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Background: As one of the most prevalent chronic non-communicable diseases affecting aging males, the burden of benign prostatic hyperplasia is growing over the world. Our study aims at investigating the potential relationships between various blood biomarkers and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in middle-aged and older men in European and East Asian population cohorts.

Methods: We included 229 022 male adults from the UK Biobank (UKB) and 20 284 male adults from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) in this study.

Background: The effects of household air pollution on urinary incontinence (UI) symptoms and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) symptoms have not been studied. This study seeks to investigate the correlation between household air pollution and UI/SUI symptoms among middle-aged and elderly adults in India.

Methods: We employed data derived from individuals aged 45 years and older who participated in the inaugural wave (2017-2018) of the Longitudinal Aging Study in India (LASI).

In order to enhance the performance of Transformer models for long-term multivariate forecasting while minimizing computational demands, this paper introduces the Joint Time-Frequency Domain Transformer (JTFT). JTFT combines time and frequency domain representations to make predictions. The frequency domain representation efficiently extracts multi-scale dependencies while maintaining sparsity by utilizing a small number of learnable frequencies.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) constitute a spectrum of oxygenic metabolites crucial in modulating pathological organism functions. Disruptions in ROS equilibrium span various diseases, and current insights suggest a dual role for ROS in tumorigenesis and the immune response within cancer. This review rigorously examines ROS production and its role in normal cells, elucidating the subsequent regulatory network in inflammation and cancer.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting the efficacy of transurethral surgery in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients.

Methods: Patients with BPH who underwent transurethral surgery in the West China Hospital and West China Shang Jin Hospital were enrolled. Patients were retrospectively involved as the training group and were prospectively recruited as the validation group for the nomogram.

Background: For adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a rare endocrine malignancy with a high rate of mortality and recurrence, it is difficult for clinicians to predict overall survival and select the most effective treatment. Targeting ferroptosis, a form of cell death, has been reported to be a promising therapeutic strategy for ACC; however, the core ferroptosis regulator and its prognostic value in ACC remain unknown.

Methods: RNA sequencing data and clinical information were downloaded from public databases.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of vaginal energy-based therapies in treating female SUI.

Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were searched up to September 2022 to identify RCTs comparing energy-based therapies with placebo intervention in treating female SUI. The primary outcome was International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) score.

Background: Cathepsin Z (CTSZ) is a cathepsin family member that plays a dual role in the adhesion and migration of immune and tumor cells.

Methods: The expression pattern of CTSZ in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) was observed by immunohistochemistry and validated by using double-labeling immunofluorescence. Publicly available single-cell sequencing data was used to further define the cell type-specific CTSZ expression in ccRCC.

Bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) is the most common type of bladder cancer. In this study, the correlation between the metabolic status and the outcome of patients with BLCA was evaluated using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus datasets. The clinical and transcriptomic data of patients with BLCA were downloaded from the Cancer Genome Atlas and cBioPortal datasets, and energy metabolism-related gene sets were obtained from the Molecular Signature Database.

Background: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. Given the limited treatment options, prognostic assessment of ACC is increasingly crucial. In this study, we aim to assess the correlation between preoperative serum albumin and prognosis in patients with ACC after primary resection.

Objective: Aberrant expression of the immune checkpoint molecule, CD276, also known as B7-H3, is associated with tumorigenesis. In this review, we aim to comprehensively describe the role of CD276 in malignancies and its potential therapeutic effect.

Data Sources: Database including PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, and Clinical Trails.

Background: Few patients with prostate cancer benefit from current immunotherapies. Therefore, we aimed to explore new strategies to change this paradigm.

Methods: Human tissues, cell lines and in vivo experiments were used to determine whether and how N-cadherin impacts the production of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) and indole amine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO-1) and whether N-cadherin can increase the production of effector (e)Treg cells.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, is characterized by chronic inflammation that could be a risk factor for extraintestinal cancer. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether inflammatory bowel disease is related to the risk of lower urinary tract tumors.

Methods: A systematical research was performed on various medical databases including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science from inception to April 2020.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is representative of Phthalate esters (PAEs), which is one of the most widely used plasticizer and known to act as a reproductive toxicant. However, little is known about the toxicity and pathological process of DEHP exposure in male reproductive system in terms of different concentrations and time points. In this study, peripubertal male Sprague Dawley rats were continually exposed to different DEHP doses (100 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, and 900 mg/kg) and periods (7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 28 days, and 35 days) during critical periods for sexual maturity.

Introduction: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a minimally invasive approach used for large kidney stones. Although tranexamic acid (TA) has the property of reducing perioperative bleeding, the effect of this drug on PCNL is equivocal. This meta-analysis was conducted to determine the efficacy and safety of TA in preventing hemorrhagic complications, transfusion requirements and other perioperative outcomes during PCNL with available randomized-controlled trials (RCTs).
