Hispolon, a polyphenol compound isolated from , has been reported to exhibit antioxidant, antiproliferative, and antitumor activities. This study aimed to explore the antitumor effects of hispolon on glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cells in vitro and in vivo. Hispidin, a polyphenol compound isolated from , has been reported to possess antioxidant activities. In this study, we aimed to investigate the mechanisms underlying the protective effect of hispidin against hydrogen peroxide (HO)-induced oxidative stress on Adult Retinal Pigment Epithelial cell line-19 (ARPE-19) cells. Although numerous studies have shown the cancer-preventive properties of butylidenephthalide (BP), there is little report of BP affecting human prostate cancer cells. In the present study, proteomic-based approaches were used to elucidate the anticancer mechanism of BP in LNCaP human prostate cancer cells. Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of methylation in the promoter regions of adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) and O(6)-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) and the survival of Taiwanese colorectal cancer (CRC) subjects who received 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) adjuvant chemotherapy.

Results: DNA isolated from tumor tissue of 117 CRC subjects was analyzed for the existence of methylation in the promoter regions of APC and MGMT by methylation-specific PCR. Various characteristics of the 117 subjects were recorded and used in the Cox proportional-hazard model analyses.
