It is difficult for waterworks that add chlorine into finished water once to maintain sufficient residual chlorine at unfavorable points of the pipe network that supply water for large areas of coverage. Therefore, booster chlorination was employed for a long-distance water distribution system. The study was performed in H City with a water supply system serving about 400 km of downtown and rural areas.

It was found that the oxidation of porous films is significant, causing the degradation of its thermoelectric properties. We show that the morphology of the film can be improved drastically by applying a short initial nucleation pulse, which generates a large number of nuclei, and then growing the nuclei by pulsed electrodeposition at a much lower overpotential.

The CNRs have confined size (≈100 nm), high specific surface area, and high thermal and electrical conductivity. The black color of CNR can improve the energy harvest efficiency of the solar irradiation to thermal energy within each nanoreactor.

We conducted a retrospective, multicenter study, and followed-up with all children from the families with SARS-CoV-2 infected members in Zhejiang Province, China. All infections were confirmed by testing the SARS-CoV-2 RNA with real-time reverse transcription PCR method, and epidemiological data between children and adults in the same families were compared.

Herein, we report the construction of carboxylate species modified TiO nanosheets with dominant {0 0 1} facets by employing ethanol as a carbon source through a low-temperature (300 °C) carbonization method. The as-obtained samples were investigated in detail by using various characterization techniques.

In March 2019, 14 employees of Chongqing Bosai Mining Company, China, working in a manganese mining of Guyana, had unexplained fever, and two of them died. We obtained lung and brain tissues as well as the blood samples from the two deceased cases (patient No.

In order to evaluate the effect between routine continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and high-volume hemofiltration (HVHF) in children with sepsis, we performed out this prospective, randomized, controlled, open-label trial.
Methods: Forty-seven children with sepsis were enrolled from January 2015 to December 2016.
New methods for achieving high-quality conducting oxide metasurfaces are of great importance for a range of emerging applications from infrared thermal control coatings to epsilon-near-zero nonlinear optics. This work demonstrates the viability of plasma patterning as a technique to selectively and locally modulate the carrier density in planar Al-doped ZnO (AZO) metasurfaces without any associated topographical surface profile. This technique stands in strong contrast to conventional physical patterning which results in nonplanar textured surfaces.

To discover how MCTs solve this fundamental aspect of intracellular monocarboxylate homeostasis in the context of multicellular organisms, we analyzed pyruvate transport activity of human monocarboxylate transporter 2 (MCT2). Here we show that MCT2 transport activity exhibits steep dependence on substrate concentration.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic. All people including children are generally susceptible to COVID-19, but the condition is relatively mild for children. The diagnosis of COVID-19 is largely based on the epidemiological evidence and clinical manifestations, and confirmed by positive detection of virus nucleic acid in respiratory samples.

Changes in the expression and activity of transporters can cause corresponding changes in drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. The drug-drug interactions (DDI) caused by transporters can seriously affect drug effectiveness and toxicity.

STAT3 plays an important role in regulating gene expression and is closely related with cancer. Thus, the sensitive and specific detection of the STAT3 biomarker is of great importance for disease diagnosis and therapeutics. In this study, by combining the target recycling amplification (TRA) with strand displacement amplification (SDA), we have developed a label-free and highly sensitive method for the dual-amplified detection of STAT3.

Finding an experimentally measurable and theoretically computable descriptor for evaluating surface-adsorbate interactions is a significant step toward achieving this goal. Here we show that the electric dipole moment can serve as a convenient yet accurate descriptor for establishing structure-property relationships for molecular adsorbates on metal catalyst surfaces.

Background: Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is the primary cause of infectious myocarditis. Aggressive immunological activation and apoptosis of myocytes contributes to progressive dysfunction of cardiac contraction and poor prognosis. MG-132, a proteasome inhibitor, regulates mitochondrial-mediated intrinsic myocardial apoptosis and downregulates NF-κB-mediated inflammation.

The study of bNAbs arising in natural infection is essential in this endeavor. We generated a human antibody, 8D6, recognizing the E2 protein of HCV isolated from a chronic hepatitis C patient.

Since December 2019, the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become the most serious public health issue. As the special population with immature immune function, newborns with COVID-19 have been reported. Newborns with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 should be transferred to designated hospitals for isolation treatment.

Ferroelectric materials with spontaneous polarization-induced internal electric fields have drawn increasing attention in solar fuel production due to the intrinsic polarized structure. However, the origination of charge separation in these materials at the nano/microlevel is ambiguous owing to the complexity of the multielectric fields. Besides, the observed charge separation ability is far from theoretical expectation.
