Engineering cells to sense and respond to environmental cues often focuses on maximizing gene regulation at the single-cell level. Inspired by population-level control mechanisms like the immune response, we demonstrate dynamic control and amplification of gene regulation in bacterial populations using programmable plasmid-mediated gene transfer. By regulating plasmid loss rate, transfer rate and fitness effects via Cas9 endonuclease, F conjugation machinery and antibiotic selection, we modulate the fraction of plasmid-carrying cells, serving as an amplification factor for single-cell-level regulation.

In the current investigation, the comparative study of cocoyam bioflocculant (CYBF) and chemical flocculant for the removal of heavy metals, COD, BOD, TDS, TSS, sulphate and nitrate from tannery effluent, and dyes from synthetic dye wastewater were examined. Different analytical techniques, including Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), were used to characterise the extracted bioflocculant. FTIR spectral measurement of the bioflocculant demonstrated the presence of hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amino groups.

The effluent streams from individual slaughtering operations were segregated based on the degree of similarity and were treated separately. The wastewater from lairage and paunch sections was dominant in suspended solids (SS: 6,000-25,000 mg/L) and was separated using a hydrasieve (500 μm) and externally fed rotary drum filter (EFRDF, 200 μm), respectively. The SS removal efficiency of the hydrasieve and EFRDF was 75% and 55%, respectively, and remaining solids were removed through a primary clarifier.

Regucalcin (RGN), also known as Senescence marker protein-30 (SMP-30), is a calcium-binding protein with multiple roles that include calcium homeostasis, anti-oxidative, anti-apoptosis, and anti-proliferation. Regucalcin is broadly expressed in the male reproductive organs of rat and bovine; here, we report its expression in the reproductive tract of male buffalo-especially in testis, epididymis, seminal vesicle, prostate, and bulbourethral gland of buffalo-as analyzed by real-time PCR, Western blot, and immunolocalization. Regucalcin degradation in seminal plasma, despite its high abundance in vesicular fluid, was demonstrated using recombinant regucalcin co-incubated with buffalo seminal plasma.
