Objective: Medication-related beliefs, for example, beliefs that medicines are unnecessary or that side effects are likely, can influence medication behaviors and experiences, potentially impacting quality of life and mortality. At times, it may be useful to change medication-related beliefs, for example, to reduce patients' concerns about side effects when extensive evidence suggests side effects are rare. Currently we do not know the most effective methods to address medication beliefs.

Objectives: Using the Health Belief Model as a conceptual framework, we investigated the association between attitudes towards COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccinations, and vaccine hesitancy and change in these variables over a 9-month period in a UK cohort.

Methods: The COPE study cohort (n = 11,113) was recruited via an online survey at enrolment in March/April 2020. The study was advertised via the HealthWise Wales research registry and social media.

Background: Maintaining health with chronic conditions often involves taking multiple medications; however, approximately 50% of patients with chronic conditions are non-adherent to medication. Patients' illness beliefs inform health behaviour, including medication-taking. Research has shown that visuals accompanying health information increased patient comprehension and the accuracy of illness perceptions.

Purpose: Caring for a chronically ill child can be stressful and requires additional care from parents. Parental mental health and stress may impact both parental and child wellbeing, leading to maladaptive parenting practices, and interference with illness management. The aim of the study was to explore the levels of anxiety and depression in parents of children born with esophageal atresia (EA) and to investigate whether parental anxiety and depression were associated with child's medical characteristics or with parental factors.

Background: Addison's disease (AD) is a rare chronic illness caused by adrenocortical insufficiency. Due to the pivotal role of the regulating hormone cortisol in AD, there is a common symptom overlap between the presentation of anxiety and adrenal crisis. Previous literature has identified the prevalence of anxiety in endocrinological disorders, however there is a paucity of research examining the complex interplay between AD and anxiety.

Objectives: At least 30% of young people with chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) also have symptoms of depression. This systematic review aimed to establish which treatment approaches for depression are effective and whether comorbid depression mediates outcome.

Setting: A systematic review was undertaken.

Overexpression screens can be used to explore gene function in Drosophila melanogaster, but to demonstrate their full potential, comprehensive and systematic collections of fly strains are required. Here we provide a protocol for high-throughput cloning of Drosophila open-reading frames (ORFs) that are regulated by upstream activation sequences (UAS sites); the resulting GAL4-inducible UAS-ORF plasmid library is then used to generate Drosophila strains by ΦC31 integrase-mediated site-specific integration. We also provide details for FLP/FRT-mediated in vivo exchange of epitope tags (or regulatory regions) in the ORF library strains, which further extends the potential applications of the library.

MNL1, the Candida albicans homologue of an orphan Msn2-like gene (YER130c in Saccharomyces cerevisiae) has no known function. Here we report that MNL1 regulates weak acid stress responses. Deletion of MNL1 prevents the long-term adaptation of C.
