A cross-sectional study was conducted investigating the association between exposure to financial, political, academic and social stressors, and symptoms of depression, anxiety and burnout among university students in Lebanon. Lebanon is a developing country experiencing a financial crisis and sociopolitical turmoil with poorly characterized impacts on the mental health of residents. To assess burnout and symptoms of depression, anxiety, a condensed version of the Malach-Pines Burnout Measure and the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) were used, respectively.

The primary aim of this study is to examine the impact of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and head injury on reactive and appetitive aggression in adult Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted targeting adult Arab United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees-registered Syrian refugees residing in Beirut and southern regions of Lebanon.
The study assessed histological, biochemical, oxidative stress, and molecular parameters to evaluate the consequences of Chlorpyrifos and Dimethoate exposure on uterine health in female rats. Despite showing no obvious signs of toxicity apart from minor clinical symptoms in DM-exposed rats, both pesticides caused degenerative changes in uterine tissue. This study demonstrates that pesticides induce inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in rats, by NF-κB activation and altering antioxidant enzyme levels.

We conducted this study to know the clinical profile and occurrence of acute PSGN in patients presenting with features of acute nephritic syndrome. Methods This prospective observational study was conducted on children aged between two and 18 years, presenting with clinical features of acute glomerular nephritis (AGN).

The crude extracts of Anchusa strigosa (leaves) and the aerial parts of Zataria multiflora Boiss were prepared in 70% ethanol. Systematic tests for acute toxicity were performed at varying dosages of 100, 250, and 500 mg/kg, while for subacute toxicity, a dose of 600 mg/kg was orally given to Wistar albino rats.

The protracted conflicts and political unrest in this region have led to a substantial number of injuries. Despite this, there is still limited understanding of the specific injury patterns stemming from conflicts, such as the 2006 Lebanon conflict.

Specifically, we examined how the associations between cultural adversities (discrimination, unemployment, and separation from family) and CMHDs are modified by levels of religiosity and sex.
Method: Between March and June 2017, a cross-sectional study was conducted targeting adult Arab Syrian refugees residing in Beirut and Southern Lebanon.
In this study, we investigated the effects of an ethanolic extract of kernel on the viability and proliferation of human lung cancer cells. We utilized MTT and BrdU cell proliferation assays, morphological assessments, cell cycle analyses, and apoptosis assays to investigate the extract's effects on lung cancer (A549 and NCI-H292) and normal lung (MRC-5) cells. The extract demonstrated a toxicity toward cancer cells compared to normal cells with dose-dependent anti-proliferative effect on lung cancer cells.

Methods: Eighteen mature parkes strain mice (4-5 weeks old) weighing18-21 g were randomly divided into three groups of six each as follows: Group I serves as the control and was given water and a regular chow diet ad lib for 66 days; group II was given oral gavage administration of letrozole (LETZ) (6 mg/kgbw) for 21 days to induce PCOS and was left untreated for 45 days; For three weeks, Group III received oral gavage dose of LETZ (6 mg/kg), after which it received Quercetin (QUER) (125 mg/kg bw orally daily) for 45 days.
Background Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is one of the most common renal ailments in the pediatric population. The management of NS with major infections remains a challenge to pediatricians and pediatric nephrologists, as it is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. In this study, we aimed to know the clinical spectrum and occurrence of major infections in hospitalized children with NS.

This research focuses on fabricating biological macromolecule-based hydrogel with desirable antibacterial, antioxidant, controlled drug release, cytocompatibility, and wound healing properties. Herein, different concentrations of nanoceria (NC) and flurbiprofen (FLU) drug-loaded gellan gum/gelatin (GG/Ge) based dual crosslinked (Ionic and EDC/NHS coupling) hydrogels were engineered.

The epidemiology of candidemia has significantly changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to identify the microbiological profile, resistance rates, and outcomes of COVID-19-associated candidemia (CAC) compared to patients with candidemia not associated with COVID-19.

As the only immunoglobulin G (IgG) subclass unable to activate the classical complement cascade, the role of IgG4 in IBD pathophysiology as an immunomodulator is controversial. This study aimed to determine the association of low, normal and high IgG4 levels with the outcomes of IBD patients.
