Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex, multifactorial progressive neurodegenerative disease. Pathologically, AD is characterized by extracellular deposits of amyloid beta (Aβ) protein and intracellular accumulation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) of tau.
